10: XLR HEADPHONE OUTPUT
This headphone output allows you to connect
a set of headphones via a 4-pin stereo XLR
connector, generally used with balanced audio
cables.
We recommend using this output to achieve the
best possible performance.
We recommend connecting a single set of head-
phones to Arche to ensure the best performance.
11: JACK HEADPHONE OUTPUT
This headphone output allows you to connect a
set of headphones via a ¼" (6.35mm) stereo jack,
generally used with unbalanced audio cables.

12 : SCREEN
You can use the screen to check Arche's operation.
13: LED
The LED indicates the status of Arche. When it
is not illuminated, this means that Arche is in the
OFF position or is not connected to the mains.
White means that Arche is powered and active.
Red means that Arche is powered and in stand-by
mode. If the LED is flashing red, this means that
the device is starting up.

14: MULTIFUNCTION BUTTON

You can use the multifunction button to navigate
through Arche's various menus and settings.
Standby: press and hold the multifunction to
place Arche on stand-by. Once Arche is in stand-
by mode, press and hold the multifunction button
to reactivate it.

Connecting Arche to a Mac (fig.E to J)
OS X operating system:
You do not need to install a driver for Mac OS X and above. The operating system recognises Arche
automatically.
1. Go to 'System Preferences'. (fig.E)
2. Select 'Sound'. (fig.F)
3. Select 'FOCAL ARCHE Audio 2.0'. (fig.G)
4. Go to 'Applications'. (fig.H)
5. Select 'Utilities'. (fig.H)
6. Select 'Audio and MIDI Setup'. (fig.I)
7. Select 'FOCAL ARCHE Audio 2.0' in the left-hand part of the window. (fig.J)
8. From the 'Format' drop-down menu, choose '384000.0 Hz' to ensure the best possible audio. (fig.J)
Connecting Arche to a PC (fig.K to W)
If you use a Microsoft Windows operating system, you will need to install the USB audio drivers included
in the 'FOCAL_UsbAudio_v4.47.0.exe...' software package. Once you have installed the drivers, the system
will recognise Arche automatically.
Minimum system requirements
• Intel Core 2 1.6 GHz processor or equivalent
• 1 GB of RAM
• Microsoft Windows 7/8/8.1/10 operating system (32-bit or 64-bit) or Apple Mac OS version 10.6.4 and above
Example: Microsoft Windows 10
To install the 'FOCAL_UsbAudio_v4.47.0.exe...' software package. Please follow the instructions below:
1. Download the driver from http://www.focal.com/arche and launch it.
2. The installer appears; (fig.K) click 'Next'.
3. Click 'Install'. (fig.L)
4. Installation in progress. (fig.M)
5. Click 'Next'. (fig.N)
6. Click 'Finish'. (fig.O)
7. A window appears (fig.P), click 'No', disconnect and reconnect Arche to your computer.
8. Click 'Finish' again. (fig.Q)
9. After configuration: right-click on the speaker driver icon on the desktop (fig.R) and select 'player
peripherals'. (fig.S)
10. A window appears. (fig.T)
11. Click 'FOCAL ARCHE Audio 2.0', then 'Default'. (fig.U)
12. Double-click on 'FOCAL ARCHE Audio 2.0' (fig.U), a window appears. (fig.V)
13. In the Advanced Statistics tab, select the sampling rate and maximum definition level (fig.W) from the
drop-down menu; click 'OK' to return to the previous window.
14. Close the window by clicking 'OK'.
15. Arche is configured!
