1 Description
1.1 Intended Use
The 50S9 Malleo Direxa Stirrup ankle orthosis is to be used exclusively
for the orthotic fitting of the lower extremities.
1.2 Indications and Effects
The 50S9 Malleo Direxa Stirrup ankle orthosis is used for functional treat-
ment of ligament instabilities, post-operatively after ligament ruptures, after
ankle distortions, as well as for functional-conservative therapy of lateral
collateral ligament ruptures. Specific indications must be determined by
the physician.
The orthosis stabilises the ankle joint. Eversion and inversion of the foot
joint are restricted without negatively affecting plantar and dorsal flexion
of the foot.
1.3 Contraindications
1.3.1 Absolute Contraindications
None.
1.3.2 Relative Contraindications
In case of the following indications, consultation with a physician is required:
Skin diseases/injuries, inflammatory symptoms, prominent scars on body
parts to which the orthosis is to be applied that are swollen, reddened
and feel excessively warm; lymphatic flow disorders, including unclear
