Camcorder data handling while
recording in picture cache mode
Recording procedures in picture cache mode are
basically the same as normal recording
procedures. However, note the following
differences with respect to how the camcorder
handles video, time, and output data.
• If you start recording while the media is being
accessed, the start point of the video that is
actually recorded may be later than the
currently specified picture cache time. Because
the delay increases as the number of recorded
clips increases, you should avoid rapid start-
and-stop recording operations in picture cache
mode.
• Regardless of the "Run" setting of "Timecode"
in TC/UB menu, the advance mode of the
internal timecode generator is always "Free
Run."
• In picture cache mode, you cannot set time data.
To set time data, exit picture cache mode.
• Shot marks are not recorded if they are set
before the recording start operation.
If power is lost during recording
• If you set the camcorder's ON/STANDBY
switch to STANDBY, the camcorder is
powered off automatically after a few seconds,
during which the media is accessed to record the
video and audio data stored in the camcorder's
memory up to that point.
• If power is lost because the battery was
removed, the DC cable was disconnected, or the
power was turned off on the AC adaptor side,
then the video and audio data stored in memory
is lost. The data stored in memory is not
recorded. Be careful to avoid this when
exchanging the battery.

White balance memory
according to the ND
filter position
The camcorder automatically memorizes the
white balance adjustment value according to the
ND filter position and the WHT BAL switch
setting (A or B). The camcorder has five ND filter
positions (CLEAR, PRESET 1 to 3, and
VARIABLE), which, combined with the A or B
switch setting, allow ten adjustment values.
Filter White Memory settings
Select "On" of "Filter White Memory" in the
Paint menu (page 19).
When "Off" is selected, memory number is
limited to one in both A and B switch and the
memory does not link to ND filter position.
Connecting to Other
Device via Wireless LAN
(PXW-X180 only)
You can make a wireless LAN connection
between the camcorder and a device such as a
smartphone or tablet by attaching the supplied
IFU-WLM3 USB wireless LAN module.
Notes
• You cannot use a USB wireless LAN module other
than the IFU-WLM3.
Making a wireless LAN connection between a
device and the camcorder enables you to do the
following.
• Remote operation via a wireless LAN
You can control the camcorder from a
smartphone, tablet, or computer that is
connected to the camcorder via the wireless
LAN.
