2 Safety information

2.1 Intended use

The sensor collects the absolute angle information of the coded MRAC506
magnetic ring. A superordinate control unit can read the absolute position
value (configurable with 5 different resolutions) via the encoder inter-
face. In parallel, an analog interface with 64 sine/cosine periods per rev-
olution is also available. Via an external input (Config), the sensor can be
switched over to another operating mode (service mode); encoder param-
eters can be changed and status information recalled in this mode.
In the service mode set via the "Config" external input, the data interface
(D+, D-) functions in the bidirectional RS485 mode. Using a RS485/RS232
protocol converter, the sensor can be connected to a PC and parameter-
ized according to the predefined set of commands via any terminal pro-
gram.
On the sensor's upper side, there is a two-color LED for diagnostic pur-
poses, which permits the indication of error and other states.
