• Reattach DFS strap to hook tab, making sure it is fully fastened.
• Insert hook tab into sleeve slot, and hook into shell.
• Pull lightly to secure in place.
Assessment of Strap Tension (Figure 12–13)
• Fasten calf strap above widest part of calf.
• Push down SmartDosing
• Turn dial clockwise until yellow display is at mid-indicator.
• Ask user to sit down, stand up, and take a few steps.
• User should feel strap tension without discomfort at mid-indicator
setting.
• If indicator is at top setting without proper tension, straps will need
to be trimmed further.
Note: Ensure due care when shortening straps, as this is an irreversible
procedure.
Final Check
Verify positioning of brace when adjustment procedure has been
completed.
Doff ing
Pull out SmartDosing
simultaneously, then Calf Strap.
Remove brace by gently pulling on hinge and opposite lower edge of
brace.
RANGE OF MOTION ADJUSTMENT (ROM)
The device comes with a 0° extension stop installed.
Additional extension stops of 5°, 10°, 15°, and 30°, and a flexion stop of
90° are included.
Note: If extension stop is modified, DFS strap tension needs to be
adjusted accordingly.
TO CHANGE RANGE OF MOTION
1. Peel condyle pad from hinge to expose screw.
2. Remove retaining screw.
3. Slide 0° stop out of hinge.
4. Insert desired extension stop.
5. Secure with retaining screw (do not over tighten).
6. To add a flexion stop, follow steps 1 and 2, insert flexion stop, then
follow step 5.

WASHING INSTRUCTIONS

Hand wash using mild soap and rinse thoroughly. For machine wash, use
a wash bag, and program for delicate wash. Air-dry only. Do not tumble
dry or use bleach.

MAINTENANCE

• For safety reasons, hinge should only be disassembled by a certified
practitioner.
• Clean dirt from hinge using tap water and/or compressed air.
• Avoid contact with salt water or chlorinated water. If such contact
occurs, rinse well with tap water and air dry.
• Regular cleaning will ensure hinge, sleeve, straps, and pads are in
