Remote Control Panel

RCP500 and RCP1500
A remote control panel is fitted with a 6 metre long cable with
plug. Push this plug in the 'REMOTE CONTROL' socket on the
control panel.
RCP1500
Only when a remote control system panel is installed the max-
imum charging current of the battery charger can be adjusted.
By decreasing the maximum charging current also the input
power is decreased. Using a dock side power connection with
a (too) small fuse for charging the batteries is then possible.

Temperature sensor
Battery temperature Sensor
If the batteries are likely to become hot due to use in tropical
regions, or for other reasons, then it is recommended that the
charging characteristics be modified to accommodate high
temperature use. This is done using the temperature sensor,
available as an option from Vetus.
This battery temperature sensor should also be connected to
the 'REMOTE CONTROL' socket.
It will then be necessary to set the battery charger using the
miniature switch. See 'OPERATIONAL SETTINGS'.

Operational settings

DIP Switches
The 6 miniature (DIP) switches, located behind the control
panel, are set to accommodate most normal operating condi-
tions.
The following settings may be carried out in order to attune the
inverter/charger to special circumstances.
Output Voltage and Frequency Converter
Switch 1
The inverter is set for 220 Volts at a frequency of 50 Hz as stan-
dard; switch 1 in the OFF position.
This setting can be changed to 240 Volts at 60 Hz by setting
switch 1 ON.
Note: The output voltage of this inverter cannot be tested using
an ordinary multimeter; the trapezium wave shape will cause
the meter to give an incorrect reading. The output voltage can
be checked using a 'True RMS' meter. The frequency, 50 or 60
Hz, can be checked using a frequency meter.
Temperature compensation
Switch 2
When a battery temperature sensor is fitted, switch 2 must be
set to the 'OFF' position.
