GDV 100 D
20 (PapS2bEcho)
Checks the S2B interface to the basic engine with an 'echo' command.
Message:
– "Parity error from basic engine to serial"
Error code: DD_ERR_PARITY_B2S
– "Parity error from serial to basic engine"
Error code: DD_ERR_PARITY_S2B
– "No communication between serial and basic engine"
Error code: DD_ERR_NO_COMMUNICATION
– "Communication time out error"
Error code: DD_ERR_COMMUNICATION_TIMEOUT
Sends 'echo' command to the Basic Engine. When the Basic Engine
responds with the expected response the communication is OK.
21 (PapS2bPass)
Pass-through S2B data/commands from RS232 port to the S2B port
and back.
The Service Test Level does not check if the messages are success-
fully sent to and received from the Basic Engine, this must be done by
the Control PC or operator.
Message: –
Switches the RS232 port and the S2B port in pass-through mode and
transfer data from/to the RS232 to/from the S2B. The Service Test
Level can only be exited via a power-off of the DVD player.
Refer also to Service Test Level PapS2bEcho.
22 (CompDsmDvpAcc)
This Test checks if all address lines (A1-A18 and A20 and A21) and all
data lines (D0-D15) are properly connected to the DSM/DVP.
Message:
– "Address line AX is not connected to the DSM/DVP"
Error code: DD_ERR_DSM_ADDRLINEX
– "Data line DX is not connected to the DSM/DVP"
Error code: DD_ERR_DSM_DATALINEX
All address lines and data lines not properly connected to the DSM/
DVP are detected.
Address line A19 cannot be tested if there is only 512 Kbyte DRAM
present in the DSM/DVP. Therefore if the Service Test Level indicates
that a data line is stuck-at, it can also be the case that address line A19
is stuck at-1. The Service Test Level will also indicate that a data line
is stuck at when the DRAM of the DSM/DVP is not connected to the
power line.
23 (CompDvpFifoSig)
This Service Test Level checks the external FIFO and the interconnec-
tions to the FIFO of the DVP.
Message:
– "The FIFO connected to the DVP or its interconnections are faulty.
The signature should be 0x35A7, but the computed signature is
0xXXXX"
Error code: DD_ERR_FIFO_FAILED
– "A time-out occurred while waiting for the signature calculation of the
DVP."
Error code: DD_ERR_FIFO_TIMEOUT
Here XXXX is a 4 digit hexadecimal value, representing the actual
computed signature.
If the connections to the FIFO faulty, i.e. stuck at or coupled the test fails
and an error message will be displayed. If the FIFO, which is a RAM
chip, is not functioning properly the same error message will be
displayed. The test cannot distinguish a faulty FIFO from faulty
interconnections to the FIFO, therefore the same error message is
displayed in both cases.
Refer also to Service Test Level CompDsmDvpAcc.
25 (CompDsmDramWrR)
This Service Test Level checks all DRAM cells of the DSM.
All stuck-at faults of the DRAM cells are detected. Also bridging faults
within a 16 bit memory word are detected.
Message:
– "The DSM DRAM is faulty"
Error code: DD_ERR_DSMDRAM
This Service Test Level tests the DRAM that is present in the DSM. The
Test is based on pattern checking. A pattern test can be used to detect
stuck-at faults and to detect coupled cells.
GRUNDIG Service
28 (AudioSig)
Tests the audio path from the Basic Engine interface (I2S) through the
DSM to the I2S output and the EBU output of the DSP.
The whole audio path is tested, from the basic engine connector
through the DSM and the DSP to the output connector 1400.
Message:
– "MCA module does not respond"
Error code: DD_ERR_AUDIO_NO_RESPONSE
The audio signature test makes the whole audio path transparent for
the outside world. The audio path starts at the I2S input from the Basic
Engine, goes through the DSM to the DSP. The audio data leaves the
DSP in the I2S protocol format and goes to connector 1400. The DSM
has three operating modes. It will be used in the CD_DA mode, this is
representative for all modes. The outside world will hook up a Basic
Engine emulator to supply the I2S data.
Refer also to Service Test Levels CompDsmDvpAcc and PapI2cCtrl.
30a (AudioDeemp0On)
30b (AudioDeemp0Off)
30c (AudioDeemp1On)
30d (AudioDeemp1Off)
Sets and clears the de-emphasis pins for the audio module
Message: –
There are two de-emphasis signals available on the digital board. Both
signals are made available externally through a connector. The signals
(low active) are used on the A/V MUX board, where they have the
function:
Deemp0 = 0 emphasise 44.1kHz audio signal
Deemp0 = 1 de-emphasise 44.1kHz audio signal
Deemp1 = 0 emphasise 48 kHz audio signal
Deemp1 = 1 de-emphasise 48 kHz audio signal
31a (AudioMuteOn)
31b (AudioMuteOff)
Sets (clears) the audio mute signal.
Message: –
The digital board provides a mute signal for the A/V MUX board. The
low-active mute-signal is an output pin on port A of the microprocessor.
PORTA1 = 0 audio mute on
PORTA1 = 1 audio mute off
Note that we use the microprocessor in a mode where PORTA is
switched to output mode.
32a (VideoSigFullOn)
Set the video path from the Basic Engine interface (I2S) through the
DSM, LSI, DVP and DENC to display an incoming test MPEG2 I-
picture (colour bar).
The operator has to check if the picture corresponds with the expected
picture. If the picture is correct the following functions have been
tested:
– The DSM is capable of capturing a DVD stream coming from the
Basic Engine Emulator.
– The DSM is capable of multiplexing the packets and transport a
MPEG2 stream to the LSI.
– The LSI can convert a MPEG2 stream into a picture and can send
that picture to the DVP.
– The DVP can perform a letterbox conversion and send that picture
to the DENC.
– The DENC can display a picture coming from the DVP.
Message:
– "Denc not responding"
Error code: DD_ERR_DENC_NOT_RESPONDING
The Service Test Level will set the video path to display a PAL-picture.
After the settings have been made the Service Test Level will send a
"Seek 0 0 0" to the Basic Engine Emulator to get a picture. This picture
with 720 pixels and 576 lines containing sub-pictures will be converted
with letterbox conversion to get a 16:9 video on a 4:3 display. The
picture that will come from the Basic Engine Emulator must have
sectors numbered from 30000, because the Service Test Level will use
the pre defined sector numbers to capture the picture. The size of the
picture must be less than 320 KBytes, because the Service Test Level
does not have the capability to control a VBR buffer overflow. After the
picture has been captured a still picture is visible at the output of the
DENC.
