Maintenance

9.1

Wearing parts

In the interests of operational safety, we recommended that the
should be serviced twice a year.
The following rules apply within the territory of the Federal Republic of Germany:
In accordance with the accident prevention regulations in Germany GUV 8.15 and VGB 65
NOTE
s. 19(2), chlorine dioxide production units must undergo a safety inspection regularly or
at least once a year and before each restart by an expert technician.
During annual maintenance all seals, filters, metering membranes, suction and pressure
valve in the metering pumps, reactor inlet valves and springs that come into contact with
chemicals must be replaced. A restart is to be performed once the whole
production unit has been inspected.
The six monthly servicing include inspecting the whole
replacement of the reactor inlet valves and replacement of seals and springs in the metering
valves.
Before replacing worn parts the unit must be rinsed with water to evacuate all residual
Ecolab products. Use the rinsing equipment included in the accessory pack.
Before opening the reactor cabinet, check the contents of the cabinet for liquid leaks or
CAUTION
for evidence of chlorine dioxide gas having escaped (yellow tinge). Chlorine dioxide gas
may escape when the reactor cabinet is opened. Ensure that there is adequate ventilation.

After changing any worn parts, check the unit for leaks and have it restarted by an expert
technician, see chapter 7.
We recommend taking out an annual maintenance contract which includes a safety
inspection and replacement of worn parts.
