Air Filtration
Provox Micron HME provides capacity to filter inhaled air thereby
reducing inhaled particles through consistent normal use.
The Integral filter helps to filter small airborne particles, e.g.
bacteria, viruses, dust and pollen from passing through the
device.
HME Function
Continuous use may help improve pulmonary function and res-
piratory problems, e.g., coughing and mucus production. New
users may experience slight initial discomfort related to increased
breathing resistance. During the first weeks of use, mucus pro-
duction may appear increased due to thinning of the mucus with
retained water.
Unintentional or accidental pressure on the housing of the Provox
Micron HME may cause difficulty in breathing or suffocation.
Inform the patient, caretakers and others of this feature to
ensure that they understand the closing function. By putting
pressure on the housing of Provox Micron HME, the airway
passage is closed. Closing the airway in order to allow voicing
is a well known feature for the laryngectomized patient with
a voice prosthesis, but may be unknown for patients without
voice prosthesis.
