3.8 BRAKING

• Close the twist grip throttle control and simultaneously pull the
two brake levers gently. Excessive or unbalanced force may cause
the vehicle to skid, with possible dangerous consequences.

3.9 ENGINE STOPPING

• After a long run, we recommend that the engine is run idle for
some moments before turning the key to the OFF position
(Fig. 21).

3.10 ADVICE ON RIDING

• Do not keep the engine running too long when the
vehicle is stationary.
• Do not keep the engine running or in closed or poorly
ventilated areas; exhaust gases are highly toxic.

• Do not make "racing" starts.
• Do not do wheelies, nor zigzagging.
• Do not open the throttle too sharply.
• To avoid damaging the starter, do not press the starter button
when the engine is running.
• The catalytic converter irradiates a big quantity of heat also after
you have just stopped the engine. Therefore it is recommended
to pay attention not to park or stop with the engine idle on grass
or dry leaves.

• Warm the engine well before moving off, by letting it idling.
• On uneven, slippery, unsurfaced, rain-soaked roads, etc.,
use the brakes extremely gently if the "engine brake" is
insufficient.

3.11 TROUBLE-SHOOTING

• If there is a fault on the Scooter, carry out the checks
and operations listed below.
If the problem persists, contact one of our Vendors/Dealers,
who have the required equipment and experience for all kinds
of adjustments, tuning and repairs.
• The possible remedy for each fault is shown in italics.
DEFECTIVE BRAKE SYSTEM
The Scooter does not brake, or the brake lever stroke is
excessive (disc brakes):
• For both brakes, check the oil level in the brake pump oil container
on the handlebar and, if necessary, drain it. Check the thickness
of the brake pads every 2,000 km (1,200 miles) at a MALAGUTI
Vendor/Dealer.
THE ENGINE DOES NOT START
1) Brake lever not pulled:
• Pull one of the two brake levers.
2) Main switch not activated:
• Insert the key and turn it
clockwise.
3) Carburettor, jet or tap
clogged:
• Refer to a MALAGUTI Vendor/Dealer.
4) Engine flooded:
• Open wide the throttle control and start again. You can also
