Fastening radial drill press to supporting sur-
face
Before you use the drill for the first time it must be
permanently fixed in position. Use both mounting
holes (16) in the base plate to do this.
Ensure that the equipment is freely accessible for
operation, adjustment and maintenance.
Note: The fixing screws may only be tightened to a
point where they do not distort or deform the base
plate. Excessive tension can lead to fracture.
Prior to using the machine for the first time
Ensure that the voltage of the mains supply complies
with the specifications on the rating plate. Connect
the equipment only to a socket with the properly
installed earthing contact. The drill is equipped with
a no-volt trip that is designed to protect the operator
from an undesired restart following a drop in voltage.
Should this happen, the equipment must be physi-
cally restarted.
Preparation Laser (Fig.10)
1.
Open the battery cover by loosening the Phil-
lips screws (S) counterclockwise
2.
Fold out the battery cover to the side and
insert two batteries of the type AA shown in
Fig.10 a
3.
Then attach the battery cover by fixing it with
the Phillips-head screws (S) clockwise
Mounting workpiece holder / vise (Fig.11)

7.2 Checking / setting the machine
m Warning!:
All the necessary adjustments for the good working
of your drill press have been done at the factory.
Please do NOT modify them.
However, because of a normal wear and tear of your
tool, some re-adjustments might be necessary.
m Warning!:
Always pull the plug from the socket when carrying
out adjustment work
Adjusting the spindle retaining spring (Fig.12/13)
It may be necessary for the spindle retaining spring
to be adjusted because of changed tension, making
the spindle return too quickly or too slowly.
1.
To provide more space, lower the table.
2.
Work on the left side of the drill.
3.
Put a screwdriver in the front lower notch (U6),
keeping it in place.
4.
Remove the outer locknut (U2) with a flat span-
ner (SW14).
5.
Leaving the screwdriver in the notch, loosen
the inner locknut (U5) until the cut-out (U4)
is released from the boss (U3). WARNING!
Spring is under tension!

6.
Using the screwdriver, carefully turn the spring
cap (U1) anti-clockwise until you can press the
notch (U4) into the boss (U3).
7.
Lower the spindle to the lowest position and
hold the spring cap (U1) in place. When the
spindle moves up and down as desired, retight-
en the inner locknut (U5).
8.
If it is too loose, repeat steps 3-5. If it is too
tight, repeat step 6 in reverse order.
9.
Using a flat spanner, tighten the outer locknut
(U2) against the inner locknut (U5).
NOTE: Do not over-tighten and do not restrict
the movement of the spindle!
The angular play of the spindle (Fig.14)
With the spindle in a low position, take it in your
hand and try to make it revolving about its axis. If
there is too much play, proceed as follows:
1.
Loosen lock nut (V2).
2.
Turn the screw (V1) clockwise to eliminate the
play but without obstructing the upward and
downward motion of the spindle (a little bit of
play is normal).
3.
Tighten the lock nut (V2).
8.

Operation

8.1.General
To switch on the equipment, push in the green ON
button "I" (4); the drill starts up.
To switch off, press the red OFF button "O" (4); the
drill shuts down.
Ensure that you do not overload the equipment. If
the sound of the motor drops in pitch during opera-
tion, it is being overloaded.
Do not overload the equipment to the point where
the motor comes to a standstill.
Never remove loose splinters, chips or jammed
pieces of wood with the machine running.
8.2.Fitting tools to the drill chuck
Make sure that the power plug is removed from the
socket-outlet before changing tools.
Only cylindrical tools with the stipulated maximum
shaft diameter may be clamped in the drill chuck
(15). Only use a tool that is sharp and free of de-
fects. Do not use tools whose shaft is damaged or
which are deformed or flawed in any other way. Use
only accessories and attachments that are specified
in the operating instructions or have been approved
by the manufacturer.
