Changes towards standard instruments
Emissivity and response time are selected via binary switches. (you will find the switch for changing
the response time inside the cover. See Technical Documentation and Operation Instruction chap-
ter 5)

The red LED on the backside will blink for about 2 or 3 seconds. In this time the unit is running a
self test. When all components are working correctly, the device stops blinking the LED.
Important! W hen the LED does not stop blinking, the device has a damage!!
The error status can be read via PC serial interface (see appendix referencing data format and pro-
tocol in the manual).
The instrument has a build-in laser pilot light. The pilot light is switch on and off by a short push onto
red button on the backside. After about 2 minutes the pilot light switches off automatically. While
the pilot light is turned on, the measurement is continued without any influence, except the intrinsic
response time will be about 2 ms in this case (Metis MS unity only)
