Operating
instructions
Always observe the opera-
ting instructions and "Im-
portant operating notes"
prior to starting! The
vehicle owner is responsible
for correct operation of the
appliance.
The installer or vehicle owner
must affix the yellow sticker
with warning information en-
closed with the appliance to
a place in the vehicle where it
is clearly visible to all users
(e.g. on the wardrobe door)!
Ask Truma to send you a
sticker if necessary.

Short Description
The Truma S 55 T is a unit
heater with a combustion air
intake at the base and top ex-
haust gas release. Heater
output, independent of the
12 V power connection, is up
to 3 kW without the fan, and
with the 12 V fan switched on
can be adjusted for an output
of up to 5 kW as required.
4
When the fan is switched off
the heater automatically
drops back to the 3 kW level.
Using the Heater
without the Fan
Before using the heater for
the first time, ensure that a
battery has been inserted
(see „Changing the
Batteries").
1. Turn on gas cylinder and
open quick-acting valve in
the gas supply line.

2. Turn the control knob (a)
through thermostat positions
1 - 10 and press down as far
it will go. The unit will ignite
automatically and the auto-
matic ignition pilot light (d)
will flash until the flame
lights.
Keep the control knob
pressed down for a further
10 seconds to allow the
safety pilot to operate.
If the flame goes out again,
re-ignition occurs immediate-
ly during the closing time
of the safety pilot (approx.
30 seconds).
Caution: If a fault occurs,
wait at least two minutes
before trying to light the
unit again.
If there is no flame, the auto-
matic ignitor continues to
operate until the control knob
is switched to "0".
If there is air in the gas supp-
ly line, it can take up to two
minutes until there is gas
available for combustion.
During this time hold the
control knob down until the
flame lights.
Using the Heater
with the Fan

h = Fan Off

3 kW)
j = Manual fan control
a
(Heater output up to
5 kW)
Turn the knob to the desired
fan setting.
Setting for summer use
(Fan, heater off)
Turn the knob to the desired
fan setting.
k = Automatic operation
with fan
(Heater output up to
5 kW)
Output is automatically adju-
sted (infinitely variable adjust-
ment) to match the desired
heater setting. Maximum out-
put can be set using the
knob if desired. Setting bet-
ween this value and the slow
running speed takes place
automatically.
Hot air is drawn in via the hot
air fan and fed via three fle-
xible hot air pipes mainly into
the floor area of the vehicle.
The extensive accessories
and parts program enables
the hot air system to be
adapted to suit all comfort
requirements.
Room Thermostat
With the fan off (Position h)
heater output is up to 3 kW,
depending on the thermostat
setting and heating require-
ments. With the fan on
(Position j or k) heater output
can be continuously adjusted
up to 5 kW as required.
When the fan is switched off
the heater automatically
drops back to the 3 kW level.
To maintain an average room
temperature of about 22° C
we recommend a thermostat
setting of 3 - 5 with the fan
off, or 4 - 8 with the fan on.
The exact thermostat setting
must be determined in each
case, depending on how
much heat is needed and the
design of your vehicle.
Note: The thermostat probe
is underneath the heater.
Please note that the ther-
mostat will be adversely
affected by cold draughts
from refrigerator vents, gaps
below doors, etc., or by a
deep-piled carpet. Always be
sure to avoid problems of this
kind, otherwise satisfactory
temperature control cannot
be guaranteed.
k
Switching off
Turn the control switch to "0"
(the automatic ignition will
switch off at the same time).
Turn the fan to „off" (Position
h) on the control console.
If the unit is not used for a
relatively long period of time,
close off the quick-action
gate valve on the gas pipe
and gas bottle.
Important
operating notes
1. When using the heater
while travelling in a mobile
home be sure to follow
the „Special installation
instructions" (see Servicing,
Point 4).
2. Underfloor combustion air
intakes must be kept clear of
dirt and snow slush. The inta-
ke vent on the heater should
not be located in the spray
area of the wheels (if neces-
sary fit a spray guard).
3. Before switching on the
heater in winter, clear all
snow from the cowl.
If you fit a roof cover over
your caravan, the exhaust
cowl must always pass right
through this cover. For this
purpose use cowl extension
UEK (Art. no. 30630-04)!
4. If the heater is repeatedly
blown out in very windy par-
king spots, or when used in
winter, we recommend the
SKV cowl extension kit (Art.
no. 30690-00) which can be
screwed onto the cowl shaft
when required, but must be
dismantled before driving the
vehicle.
5. Inspect the exhaust duct
and all connections at regular
intervals, and always in the
event of blowback (misfire).
It is essential for the exhaust
duct to be installed so that
it slopes upwards over its
whole length and is secured
with several clamps. Never
place any object on the
exhaust duct, since this could
result in damage. The
exhaust duct connection to
