CHAnGInG THE LEVER RATIo
The HC³ has been designed in such a way that the mechanical ratio steps employed mimic a 1 mm increase
or decrease in hydraulic piston diameter. As a result the HC³ offers the option to simulate 3 different piston
diameters depending on your adjustment of the point of support. Following a lever ratio adjustment
please ensure that the pressure point is suitable and ride carefully until you re-familiarise yourself with
the characteristics of the brake master cylinder.
Caution
The installation of this master cylinder is aimed at qualified technical personnel. If you do not feel qualified
to carry out the installation we would recommend that enquire at your local motorcycle dealership for
information regarding suitably qualified personnel in your region.
Tighten each bolt and nut to the specified torque setting. Check the torque settings periodically. This
master cylinder has been designed for installation on a 22,2 mm handlebar. Please only use new sealing
rings when tightening the banjo bolt to avoid a fluid leakage. Use silicone based grease to lubricate moving
parts. Take care to use an approved brake fluid for your vehicles brake system. Do not re-use or mix
brake fluids as this may lead to a chemical reaction. Always take care to avoid brake fluid spillage onto
painted surfaces. Should a spillage occur flush immediately with water to avoid any damage. After finishing
an installation please ensure that each function is operating correctly before carrying out a test ride.
Check all connectors to ensure that the system is correctly sealed.
HC³ Service
This HC³ master cylinder has been designed and manufactured to last. As with all brake master cylinders
we recommend an annual brake fluid change to avoid any corrosion which can occur when the brake
fluid becomes saturated with water. In some racing applications where DOT 5.1 brake fluid is used and
subjected to higher temperatures it may be prudent to change the fluid more often. The hard core technology
inside this master cylinder does not allow for a piston change as is customary with brake master cylinder
technology to date. The HCT seal is positioned within the cylinder and can only be changed by a qualified
MAGURA technician with appropriate tooling and testing apparatus to ensure that you the rider can
depend on the full braking power at all times. In the event that you have completed 100,000 km or have
used the HC³ for a period of 10 years and wish to have the unit reconditioned we offer a full master cylinder
service here at the MAGURA HQ in Germany. The same applies to professional race teams who wish
