Installation Instructions

Due to the radial design of this master, if it is replacing an axial master cylinder, the brake line will most
likely need to be replaced. The new brake line will need to be longer and should have the ring connector
turned at 90° to allow the installation below the master cylinder. In this case please order an appropriate
new brake line separately.
Install the HC³ master cylinder on the handlebar and hand secure the clamp retaining bolts. Adjust the
position of the master cylinder to ensure that the hand lever can be operated fully to the handlebar grip
without contacting the throttle housing or switch unit. Secure the master cylinder by tightening the
clamp retaining bolts in the following sequence –
Top Bolt fixed securely to clamp = 5,7 Nm
Bottom Bolt with gap at clamp = 5,7 Nm
Following the clamping process check once again that the lever can be fully operated to the bar grip
without contacting anything which may impede the correct operation.
Then turn the handlebar fully left to right to ensure that the master cylinder does not contact any items
on the motorcycle which may impede the steering or control.
A banjo bolt has been included for use with your HC³ master cylinder to enable a secure connection
between the brake line and the master cylinder – thread size = M10 x 1. The gasket ring washers should
be replaced every time the banjo connector is removed and reinstalled. For the initial installation 2 new
gasket ring washers are included. The specified torque setting for the banjo connector is 15 Nm. Should
you require a banjo connector for 2 brake lines this must be purchased separately – please see spare
parts list.
Installing the Brake-fluid Reservoir.
Install the Retaining Bracket with the bolt provided M5x10
Tightening Torque = 3Nm
Install the Reservoir Hose and clamp into position with the hose clamps provided onto both the master
cylinder and the reservoir.
Finally attach the reservoir to the retaining bracket
Tightening Torque = 3 Nm
WARnInG!
Depending on your location in the world the regulations may vary with regards to the
legal requirements for brake fluid reservoir volume. The reservoir provided is supplied
for sports riding and is suitable for all applications where the brake pad wear does not
exceed a brake fluid volume of 36ml. In the event that your motorcycle employs a twin
6 piston calliper configuration the reservoir may not meet the legal requirements in
your country. MAGURA cannot accept any responsibility in the event that this reservoir
does not meet any local legal requirements. We supply the reservoir for track use and
can confirm that it meets all of our internal requirements for a brake fluid reservoir. The
responsibility with regards to all legal requirements regarding your motorcycle remains
firmly with the vehicle owner.
