The FernTel-W ZB is intended for connec-
tion to analogue extension connections. It
can be built into walls, furniture and desks.
Description
The telephone consists of a receiver with a
spiral cord, a front plate with a receiver
rest and an illuminated keyboard with 4 x 4
keys. The receiver cord is led through the
front plate by means of a cable gland.
Above the receiver rest, there are sound
exit openings in the front plate for the tone
call signals.

Taking calls
Incoming calls are signalled acoustically
via the loudspeaker and optically by the
flickering key illumination. Take off the
receiver in order to connect with the caller.
Calling someone
Take off the receiver. You will hear the dial-
ling tone (proceed-to-dial tone) of the
public telephone network or of the exten-
sion. Press one of the one-touch dialling
keys in order to dial the telephone number
of the person you wish to speak to auto-
matically or use the number keys to do so
manually.
Making a consultation call
During a conversation you can cut the
current connection and hold in order to
make a consultation call to a third person.
To do this, press the consultation call key;
you will hear the dialling tone (proceed-to-
dial tone). Then dial the telephone number
of the person you wish to consult. Once
you have consulted this person, you can

Notes on use
The telephone has a receiver rest with an
integrated reed contact as a hook switch,
which is switched by a magnet in the
receiver. This means that the receiver must
be hung up in order to interrupt or termi-
nate an existing call connection.
Connection / assembly
On the back of the telephone there are
two terminals labelled "TCP". To these,
connect the two cores of the connecting
line leading to the extension system. This
line must be available in the installation
area. Place the telephone into the installa-
tion opening. For fastening the telephone
there are assembly holes for the counter-
sunk screws at the four corners of the
front plate.
Servicing and maintenance
The telephone requires no maintenance.
However, in areas of use with a high
return to the connection on hold by pres-
sing the consultation call key again. Alter-
natively, you can also connect the consul-
tation call person and the person put on
hold with one another; to do this, you just
need to hang up the receiver. The consul-
tation call is an additional service of your
network operator or of the extension
system used by you!
Temporarily changing the receiver
volume
During a conversation you can temporarily
change the receiver volume for the dura-
tion of the connection as follows.

Changing the telephone configuration
The telephone is fitted with a programm-
able memory in which settings such as
telephone numbers, volumes, times etc.
are permanently saved. In order to adapt
the telephone to different use conditions,
these settings are alterable.
Each adjustable feature of the telephone
configuration is described in the section
CONFIGURATION roughly as follows.
With i), simultaneous pressing of the keys
and
, every setting action is intro-
duced. Using the keys ii), the feature to be
changed is selected, the adjustment range
of which is expressed by the symbolic
name iii). The indented additional line v)
defines a list of the permissible keys for
degree of dirt build-up, cleaning should be
carried out from time to time. The receiver,
the receiver rest and the front plate are to
be wiped down with a damp cleaning
cloth.
NOTE: Never use sharp or pointed objects
for cleaning. Please avoid using any other
cleaning and scouring agents.

the quality of the voice connection can be
improved by lowering the microphone
amplification of the telephone.
