8. Charging the Vehicle Battery

Please note:
No rechargeable battery pack is included with the vehicle, this must be ordered separately.
The rechargeable battery pack is generally empty on delivery and must be charged.
Before the rechargeable battery pack delivers its maximum power, several complete discharge and
charge cycles are necessary.
Always use the NiCD rechargeable battery pack until it is empty if possible, as recharging a "half-full"
rechargeable battery pack repeatedly can cause a so called memory effect. This means that the
rechargeable battery pack loses its capacity, it no longer releases all of its saved energy, drive time is
decreased.
This effect is much slighter in rechargeable batteries with NiMH technology, and recharging partially
discharged rechargeable batteries is less problematic.
High-quality rechargeable batteries not only have a higher capacity, which allows you to drive your
model vehicle much longer but also delivers a higher output voltage for extreme situations. Thus there
is more power available to the motor and more torque as well.
If you are using several rechargeable battery packs or rechargeable batteries, purchasing a high-quality
charger may be worthwhile. They are normally also suitable for fast charging of rechargeable batteries.
Rechargeable batteries heat up during charging/discharging (driving the vehicle). Wait until the
rechargeable battery has reached room temperature before charging it. The same applies after the
charging procedure. Do not use the rechargeable battery in the vehicle until it has cooled down sufficiently
after the charge process.

9. Charging the Transmitter Battery

Batteries can be charged while in the transmitter using the charging socket (fig. 1, pos. 4) To do this a corresponding
charger is necessary (not included in delivery), that can be set for 8 cells (9.6V); the middle contact of the charging
socket is plus/+.
Attention!
When you are connecting a charger, there must be no normal batteries in the transmitter - only
rechargeable batteries. Recharging normal batteries is not possible, risk of fire and explosion!
Don't use fast chargers! The charging current for rechargeable batteries must not exceed 200mA.
