8. Assembly and Commissioning

The surveillance camera must only be installed by a qualified specialist (e.g. electrician) who is familiar
with the relevant regulations (e.g. VDE)!
Improper work at the mains voltage endangers not only yourself, but also others!
If you do not have the expertise required for installation, do not install the device yourself but ask a
specialist.
The surveillance camera must be protected with a 10/16 A fuse in the on-site sub-distribution (e.g. circuit
breaker).
A residual-current circuit-breaker must be used upstream of this.
The surveillance camera must only be installed when powered down. It is not sufficient to, e.g., switch off
the light switch!
Power down the mains supply by removing the associated electric circuit fuse or switching off the circuit
breaker. Protect it from unauthorized re-activation, e.g. with a danger sign. Switch off the associated
residual-current circuit-breaker so that the mains supply is disconnected from mains voltage on all poles.
Check that the mains supply powered down, e.g. with an appropriate meter.
The surveillance camera can be installed indoors or outdoors (IP44).
Select a high enough position as installation site (we recommend a height of at least 2.5 m); the lamp and camera
with the PIR motion detector is pointed diagonally downwards.
Keep minimum distance of at least 1 m between the lamp and illuminated surfaces; otherwise there is a
danger of fire. Never point the beam on flammable or easily flammable objects.
Never install the surveillance camera at any easily flammable surfaces! Keep a sufficient distance from
such materials!
The PIR motion detector reacts to temperature changes in the recording area, e.g. if a
person, animal or car with a different temperature than the background enters the recording
area.
Therefore, the motion direction is important for good detection. If a person comes directly
towards the PIR motion detector (upper figure), the temperature chance is only relatively
low (the person only grows "larger" for the sensor slowly, and may remain below the signal
threshold, depending on sensitivity settings.
If a person walks through the surveillance area across (lower figure), large temperature
changes will occur. The PIR motion detector triggers quickly.
Detection becomes increasingly difficult in high ambient temperatures. Therefore, do not
point the PIR motion detector, e.g. at warm building surfaces, air conditioning, etc.
In winter, there may also be a problem with motion detection because the heat emission of
persons is reduced by thick winter clothes.
