• The clamp-on ammeter leaves the factory in a technically safe
condition. To maintain this condition and ensure safe opera-
tion, the user must take account of the safety instructions
and warnings contained in these operating instructions. The
manufacturer guarantees satisfaction of the following
(international) standards: UL 3111, CSA C22.2 No. 1010.1-92,
ISA-DC82 and IEC 1010-2-32 (1994).
• The measuring device (clamp-on ammeter without measuring
leads) may be used in installations of voltage surge category
III to IEC 664. However, the measuring leads are not electric
arc explosion-protected (IEC 1010-2-031, Section 13.101).
• Please note the following symbols:
WARNING! Electric shock if touched!
IMPORTANT!
Protection Class 2 symbol (double insulation)
• Measuring devices should be kept away from children!
• In the workplace, the accident prevention measures of the
Association of Employer's Liability Insurance for electrical
plant and operating material must be observed.
• In schools, training centers, hobby and self-help workshops,
working with measuring equipment must be responsibly
supervised by trained personnel.
• When opening panels or removing parts (except if this is
manually possible), live components may be exposed.

Connecting points may also be live. Ahead of any adjust-
ment, maintenance, repair or exchange of parts or sub-
assemblies, during which the unit must be opened, connec-
ting points must be disconnected from all voltage sources
and measuring circuits. If adjustment, maintenance or repair
must then proceed with the unit open, only trained
engineers, familiar with the risks and relevant regulations
(VDE-0100 or VDE 0701 and VDE 0686) are authorized to
complete the work.
• Capacitors in the unit may still be charged, even when the
unit has been disconnected from all power sources and mea-
suring circuits.
• Please take special care when handling voltages in excess of
25 V AC or 35 V DC voltage. Even at these voltages, contact
with electric cables can give a potentially lethal electrical
shock.
Therefore, start by switching the voltage source to no-load,
connect the measuring device to the terminals of the voltage
source you are measuring, set the measuring device to the
voltage measuring range required and then switch on the
voltage source. On completion of the measurement, switch
the voltage source to no-load and remove the measuring
leads from the terminals of the voltage source.
• Ahead of any voltage measurement, check that the measu-
ring device is not in the current measuring range.
• Ahead of modifying the measuring range, always remove the
clamp-on ammeter from the measurement object (conductor
rail, cable, etc.).
• For measuring other parameters than current (such as volta-
ges, resistances, frequencies, etc.), use only the measuring
leads supplied with the measuring device. Only these are
applicable.
