• Male pyramid (2025 or 2025T) for medium/short transfemoral
residual limbs or hip disarticulation.
Important: Always use original Total Knee/Össur adapters. Fully engage
threads. Align pinch bolt 90° anteriorly for male pyramid, prong adapters
and Euro 4-hole adapter, but 45° for female pyramid (Figure 3). Threads
are cut for maximum strength in this position.
Adapters from other manufacturer may not fully engage all threads. They
may compromise strength and void the warranty. Never tighten adapters
against the hydraulic head.
When prong adapters are used, resin may get under the adapter and
hinder full thread engagement. Carefully remove resin without damaging
the adapter so that adapter threads can be fully engaged when mounted
on the knee.
Important: Contact between socket/adapter and proximal 2/3 of back link
must be avoided when fully flexing knee (Figure 4). Contact in this area
can damage knee and void the warranty. Contact between socket and
back link below balance unit is acceptable.
If pylon is too short for changed setup, do not compensate by putting a
spacer into the knee tube adapter as this may compromise strength and
void the warranty (Figure 5). Use a new Össur pylon cut to correct length
for maximum patient safety.
BENCH ALIGNMENT (Figure 2)
• Assemble prosthetic foot, pylon and knee.
• Establish knee centre height, measured from the knee center
reference(3). Tighten tube clamp to 15 Nm(11 ft-lbs) (Figure 6).
• Place appropriate heel height under heel or fit patient's shoe.
• Establish vertical pylon for proper knee function. Alignment reference
line (1) from pivot axis (6) should pass through posterior 1/3 mark on
Flex-Foot
®
• Attach socket with selected adapter combination to knee. Tighten to
torque as specified in adapter IFU. Ensure flexion/extension and
abduction/adduction angles are as determined in patient assessment.
Alignment reference line (1) from bisection of socket on ischial level
(2) should pass through pivot axis (6) of knee and posterior 1/3 mark
on Flex-Foot cover.
• Make sure total length of prosthesis is correct.
NOTE: If alignment reference line (1) is too far anterior to pivot axis(6),
more effort may be required to initiate knee flexion.
BUMPER SELECTION (Figure 7)
The bumper determines the amount of stance flexion.
• Carefully insert flathead screwdriver or similar under bottom of
bumper cover and remove cover (Figure 8).
• Insert small flathead screwdriver under bumper and lift upwards.
• Remove bumper (leave the shims under it in place).
