10.5 WAS IST MIDI
Mit einer MIDI-Schnittstelle (MIDI steht für Musical Instrument Digital Interface, also digitale
Schnittstelle für Musikinstrumente) können Musikinstrumente anderer Marken und Arten untereinander
über dieses spezifische Protokoll von Codes kommunizieren. Dadurch kann man MIDI-
Instrumentensysteme erstellen, die vielseitiger sind und eine bessere Kontrolle bieten als einzelne
Instrumente. Damit diese Kommunikation möglich ist, sind alle MIDI-Instrumente mit zwei oder drei
fünfpoligen DIN-Verbindern ausgestattet, die die folgende Bezeichnung tragen:

MIDI IN: Über diese Buchse empfängt die Maschine die von anderen Einheiten gesendeten MIDI-
Daten.

MIDI OUT: Über diese Buchse sendet die Maschine die von ihr erzeugten MIDI-Daten an andere
Einheiten.

MIDI THRU: Diese Buchse gibt es nicht auf allen Instrumenten und sie dient zum seriellen
Anschluss mehrerer Einheiten, denn sie sendet die MIDI-Daten so, wie sie vom jeweiligen Port MIDI
IN empfangen werden, weiter.
