I. Features
The FD 500 W (Nature7® 569540) dryBuddy Food
Dehydrator is intended for drying and dehydrating
herbs, fruit, mushrooms, vegetables, old bread
products, meat and for preparing dried delicacies
from fruit purée, yoghurt, etc. in the comfort of
your own home. Due to its spaciousness, slide-out
horizontal trays and precision temperature control,
it can also be used for making homemade yoghurt
directly in glass jars. With its fine temperature
control, this food dehydrator can very gently
prepare, for example, dried apricots without
chemical antioxidants (e.g. sodium sulphite) and
retain more vitamins, which you can then use to
make homemade müsli.
The food dehydrator is very useful for dehydrating
seasonal products for later use, e.g. mushrooms,
which, due to the cooler Autumn weather and
higher air humidity, are more difficult to dry and
take longer to do so.
Furthermore, the dehydrator comes with a fine
mesh tray for drying, for example, grains and a
plastic drying tray for preparing dried delicacies,
e.g. fruit purée flat cakes, which are then made into
roll ups.
The food dehydrator has 6 stainless steel
large mesh drying trays that will accommodate
approximately 0.5 kg of ingredients each (3 kg in
total), making it possible to dry more food at once
M
(
fig. A).
Temperature and drying time are set using
buttons and shown on a display. The display also
M
shows the remaining drying time (
fig. B).
The food dehydrator is fitted with a large fan on
the rear wall and hot air can therefore flow evenly
over all the trays and it is not necessary to swap the
trays around as is the case of dehydrators that have
bottom-up chimney airflow.

III. Preparing the food
dehydrator for use
• Before using the food dehydrator, thoroughly
wash the drying area and trays using kitchen
detergent, whilst ensuring that el. power is
disconnected.
• To use it, place the food dehydrator on a stable
even surface in open space, whilst ensuring
that sufficient air supply into the fan at the
rear of the food dehydrator is not restricted.
The rear side of the food dehydrator must not
be pushed up against a wall, and a clearance
of at least 5 cm must be maintained. Likewise,
the air outlet at the top of the dehydrator must
not be restricted, e.g. by the air outlet being
covered by a blanket or an overly low ceiling.
The food dehydrator must not be used in a
closed and sealed area, e.g. in a cupboard, but
rather in a room.
• The food dehydrator is intended for drying food
only, and not, for example, wet laundry or items
with flammable chemical coatings, etc.!
IV. Preparing food for
drying
1
Thoroughly wash the food before drying, or
remove peels as necessary and cut it into 5-8 mm
thick slices. The recommended preparation
method is provided in tables 1-3.
• Certain types of food can be dried directly in
halves, e.g. pitted apricots or plums, halves of
smaller pears or even whole fruits as in the case of
berries such as smaller seedless grapes to make
homemade raisins.
c
ATTENTION
Do not cut the tops of herbs and blossoms into
smaller pieces before drying them, rather dry
the tops whole.
Dried tops of herbs can be crushed by hand directly
before use (blossoms do not need to be crushed).
The reason for this is to minimise the loss of
essential oils in the herbs, which are very sensitive
to temperature and are very volatile.
2
Place sliced pieces of food evenly in a single
layer on to the trays, see fig. A.
Evenly space out tops of herbs and blossoms into
a single layer on the trays.
3
Slide the door into the grooves of the dehydrator
from above and completely close the inside of
the dehydrator.
4
Turn on the dehydrator and set it according to
the procedure below.
