cord hang over the edge of the table or counter. Ensure that no one will
pull the appliance by the power cord.
• Do not place any clothes or tissues or similar materials on or under
the appliance during operation, to avoid overheating, fire and electric
shock. Do not place any heavy and/or sharp-edged foreign objects on
or in the appliance or any of its parts (e.g. warming plate or drip tray
rack), to avoid damage.
• Do not place the appliance or any part of it on a range, or on or near
hot surfaces (e.g. burner, heater, or oven). During operation keep the
appliance in an appropriate distance to any sensitive objects of at least
15 cm on each side, to avoid damage due to heat and moisture. Ensure
free access to the operating elements at the front of the appliance and
the water tank at the rear.
• Children must always be supervised to ensure that they do not play with
the appliance or any parts or accessories of the appliance or the packa-
ging. Always keep the appliance where it is dry, frost-free, and clean,
and where young children cannot reach it. Do not leave the appliance or
any part of it unattended, when in reach of young children. Persons with
reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience
and knowledge, including children, always need close supervision when
using electrical appliances.
• This appliance can be used by persons with reduced physical, sensory
or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge, including
children aged from 8 years and above, if they have been given super-
vision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and
understand the hazards involved. Always keep the appliance and the
power cord out of reach of young children younger than 8 years. Even
care and cleaning shall not be performed by children without supervision.
• For operation, only fill cold, clear tap water in the water tank. Do not fill
in any other liquids. For de-scaling do not use corrosive or toxic chemicals
or de-scalers. Only use the recommended solutions (see: >De-Scaling the
Machine<). Do not operate the appliance while the water tank is empty.
Avoid spilling water, when filling the water tank, inserting the filled water
tank, and removing the filled drip tray.
