Main menu
If no accumulator is connected to the terminals exhaustively discharged (0 volt)
accumulators may be refreshed and the language selected.
Number of cells
During the cell number entry, the device proposes a value which corresponds to the
voltage applied. The real number of cells may depart from it when the accumulator
has been discharged very much or freshly recharged.
The accumulator is checked for defective cells while being charged after the build-up
phase.
Charging programs
- CHA (CHARGE) = Charge or recharge only once
CHARGE means that the accumulator connected is charged.
- DIS (DISCHARGE) = Discharge only once
DISCHARGE means that the accumulator connected is only discharged.
- CHK (CHECK) = Discharge and recharge once
CHECK means that the accumulator connected is discharged and recharged.
- CYC (CYCLE) = Charge/Discharge/Charge
CYCLE means that the accumulator connected is first discharged, then dischar-
ged and is finally recharged.
- ALV (ALIVE) = Charge/Discharge/Charge/Discharge/Charge
The ALIVE program serves for activating new accumulators or those stored for a
prolonged period of time.
- SLF (SELFDISCHARGE) = Discharge/Charge/Discharge/Charge/Pause/Dischar-
ge/Charge
The SELFDISCHARGE program serves for determining the self-discharge of an
accumulator over a certain, adjustable period of time. At this point, the controller
stores and compares the accumulator capacity of the two discharge cycles before
and after the pause (because an accurate statement on the capacity of the accu-
mulator may be made only by discharging it), calculates the efficiency n therefrom,
and displays it. After the pause, the accumulator will achieve a lower discharge
capacity that it had before, because of its self-discharge (D2); this makes the
ratio(D2/D1) less than 1, i.e. less than 100 %. The maximum readout is 99 % (if no
loss was found to exist). During the SELFDISCHARGE program, if the charger is
interrupted by being turned off or plugged out the program will not be continued,
but is ceased by the error message ERROR. The two discharge values will then not
be comparable any longer.
32
The accumulator type (Ni for NiCd and NiMH accumulators), cell number, general
charging mode (A if automatic charging and discharging were selected, M for manual
in the other case) and the discharging capacity will appear in the 2nd line.
If charging is just being done an arrow will flash in front of "C" and if discharging is
just being done an arrow will flash in front of "D".
Representation U,I:
CHA S>U= 15.109mAh
00:02 I=
0.500A
The charging program (e.g. CHA for CHARGE) and the accumulator voltage measu-
red are displayed in the first line here. Furthermore, the accumulator symbol (S) sho-
ws the approximate charging condition of the accumulator.
If charging is just being done an "upward arrow" will flash beside to the voltage dis-
play (because the voltage rises during charging) and if discharging is just being done
a "downward arrow" will flash (because the voltage lowers during discharging).
The processing time in hh:mm which has passed already is displayed in the second
line (with time being reset to 00:00 once 100 hours are reached). The charge and
discharge currents are displayed as well.
If a voltage has not been determined yet
CHA S>U= --.---V
will appear.
In the SELFDISCHARGE program, the efficiency calculated is displayed in the first line
provided it has been determined already (i.e. starting from the last charging procedure).
n=73% U= 15.109V
Additionally, in the SELFDISCHARGE program, the running wait time is displayed as
T = DAYS/hh:mm in the second line during the pause. This causes an arrow to flash
in front of "T".
PAUSE>T=29/23:59
The display is continuously changed over by the UP and DOWN keys and the ENT-
ER key turns on and off again such automatic change-over.
A program, when running, can only be ceased by disconnecting the accumulator. If
the accumulator is disconnected while charging or discharging is under way ERR
may briefly appear for "Error" as the device becomes aware that no current is flowing
any longer. The standby message will reappear afterwards.
Once a program has been successfully executed RDY will appear (for READY) and
the arrow stops flashing.
