Network-connected devices and chargers are not allowed for use on
human beings or animals.
When working with live components only use tools explicitly authori-
zed for such purposes.
If there is reason to believe that safe operation has become impossible
put the charger out of operation and secure it against any unintended
operation.
This applies if
- the charger exhibits visible damage
- the charger does not operate any longer
- the charger was stored under unfavourable conditions for a long
period of time.
- the charger was exposed to extraordinary stress caused by transport.
A damaged line which connects to the mains should be exchanged
only by skilled personnel.
Avoid operating the device in the close vicinity of strong magnetic
fields (loudspeakers, magnets), electromagnetic fields (transformers,
motors, coils, relays, contactors, electromagnets), electrostatic fields
(charging and discharging procedures), transmitting antennas or high-
frequency generators because this can have an adverse effect on
charger operation.
If the device does no longer respond following an impact of strong
magnetic fields turn the device off, using the mains switch, and turn it
on again.

4. Characteristic features

This is a rapid charger for nickel/cadmium and nickel/metal hydride accumulator
packs.
The accumulators are charged at 100 % by the microcomputer controlled rapid
charging procedure. 100 % means up to 115 % of the capacity indicated for new
accumulators and less than 100 % of the capacity indicated for older accumulators.
For accumulator packs with a capacity of less than 1,000 mAh, the discharge capa-
city (D) will possibly not achieve 100 %; however, this discharge value has to be lar-
ger than 80 % because otherwise the accumulator pack is defective (test best using
the ALIVE program).

6. Troubleshooting
The charger which you purchased is a product which was constructed according to
the state of the art and is safe in operation. However, problems or trouble might ari-
se notwithstanding this. Therefore, we will describe here how you may remedy pos-
sible trouble:
Problem:
No operation or no display message
Remedy:
- Has the contrast been adjusted properly?
- Is the charger turned on ?
- Is the charger mains plug in the mains socket ?
- Check the socket, using another electric device.
Problem:
No accumulator is identified.
Remedy:
- Did you make sure of the correct accumulator polarity ?
- Are there contaminated contacts (those of the charger and/or accumulator ?
- Has the accumulator/accumulator pack been exhaustively been discharged ?
Problem:
Faulty or unbelievable data are shown in the display.
Remedy:
- You exchanged the accumulators while the charger was turned off. This causes
wrong charge capacities (C) or discharge capacities (D) and can also result in
damage to the accumulators.
Problem:
The fan does not run although charging or discharging is being done.
Remedy:
- Turn the charger out immediately and send it away for repair.
Problem:
ERROR message with the accumulator inserted
Remedy:
- There is too high an accumulator voltage (possibly the battery is inserted or a
wrong setting was made)
- There is too low an accumulator voltage (the accumulator is defective)
- Hardware fault identifier for the charger: Charge a serviceable accumulator by
means of the charger. If the fault occurs anew send the charger away for repair.
