PSI 9000 2U Series
Later operation of the MS system implies:
• The master unit displays, or makes available to be read by the remote controller, the sum of the actual values
of all the units
• The ranges for setting the values, adjustment limits, protections (OVP etc.) and user events (UVD etc.) of the
master are adapted to the total number of units. Thus, if e.g. 5 units, each with a power of 1.5 kW, are connected
together to a 7.5 kW system, then the master can be set in the range 0...7.5 kW.
► How to connect the master-slave bus:
1.
Switch off all units that are to be connected and connect them together with network cables (CAT3 or bet-
ter, not included). It doesn't matter which of the two master-slave connection sockets (RJ45, backside) is
connected to the next unit.
2.
Depending on the desired configuration the units can then be connected at the DC side.
3.
The two units at the beginning and end of the chain should be terminated, if long connection cables are
used. This is achieved using a 3-pole DIP switch which is positioned on the back side of the unit next to the
MS connectors.
Now the master-slave system must be configured on each unit. It is recommended to configure first all the slave
units and then the master unit.
► Step 1: Configuring all slave units
1.
Enter
then GENERAL SETTINGS and press
2.
Activate the MS mode with touch area
knowledged with OK, otherwise the change will be reverted.
3.
Set the address of the slave between 1 and 15 with the left-hand rotary knob. Ensure that no address is
allocated twice.
4.
Accept the settings with the touch area
The slave is then configured for master-slave. Repeat the procedure for all other slave units.
► Step 2: Configuring the master unit
1.
Enter
then GENERAL SETTINGS and press
2.
Specify the unit as master with tough area
acknowledged with OK, otherwise the change will be reverted.
3.
Accept the settings with the touch area
► Step 3: Initialising the master
The master unit and the whole master-slave system must now be initialised, which is done automatically after the
master unit has been activated for MS. In the main page, after quitting the setting menus, a pop-up will appear:
EA Elektro-Automatik GmbH
Page 80
Helmholtzstr. 31-33 • 41747 Viersen
Germany
Position: not terminated (standard)
Position: terminated
Tapping INITIALIZE will cause the unit to search for slaves and then to con-
figure itself for set and actual values accordingly. If more than one correctly
configured unit is found then this screen will show the number of slaves and
the combined total current and total power.
If no slaves are found, or the correct number is not displayed, then the settings
of all the slaves and master together with the cabling must be checked and
setup process repeated.
