General instructions for use

When using PHE voltage detectors, the following instructions must be followed
- thread to life!
2.1 Only use PHE voltage detectors that are rated for the nominal voltage and nominal frequency (see rating
plate, chapter 4.) of the electrical installation.
2.2 Check PHE voltage detectors for proper operation before and after they are used.
2.3 Only contact the handle of PHE voltage detectors and operate them from a safe location so that the
user maintains the required safety distance from all live parts of the installation.
2.4 When making contact by means of the test electrodes of PHE voltage detectors, keep them as far away
as possible from other live or earthed parts of the installation.
PHE voltage detectors consist of two or several elements (see chapter 3. Assembly).
2.5 PHE voltage detectors are suitable for indoor and outdoor use.
PHE voltage detectors can also be used in wet weather conditions. However, they must not be permanently
energised for more than 1 minute.
2.6 The position of the voltage detector does not affect its proper electrical operation. The operating position de-
pends on the local conditions of the installation.
2.7 Observe the prescribed limit values of –25°C to +55°C (temperature) and 20% to 96% (humidity) when
using and storing PHE voltage detectors.
2.8 Wipe dry condensed PHE voltage detectors (e.g. due to extreme temperature fluctuations) prior to use.
2.9 Occasionally check under operating voltage conditions (lowest voltage of the nominal voltage range)
whether the voltage detector responds.
