5.2.1 The indication of the voltage detector is only clear if one of the two lights is illuminated.
5.2.2 The indication of the voltage detector is clear until the energy sources (batteries) are low.

Voltage detector with selector switch

5.3.1 Principle of the selector switch:
The selector switch can be switched into three positions (see Fig. 5.3) to adjust the voltage detector to
different nominal voltages and nominal voltage ranges (observe rating plate!). The arrow head on the
rotable inner part shows the position of the switch. The switch snaps into the relevant position thus
preventing unintentional switching.
To move the switch to another position, unlatch the switch by pressing the rotable inner part in the
direction of the housing. After that, the switch can be switched into another position. The switch
automatically snaps into the next switch position. It is not possible to directly switch from "3...6 kV" to
"15...30 k V" or from "15...30 kV" to "3...6 kV".
The switch must be snapped into the relevant position of the selector switch for verifying safe isolation
from supply voltage! If the switch is situated between two positions, the device does not operate
properly.
5.3.2 Functional test:
Before verifying safe isolation from supply voltage, a functional test must be performed.
This functional test may only be performed in the "3...10 kV" position of the selector switch. When
pressing the "TEST" button (see Fig. 5.1), the indicator is switched on and its proper operation is
checked (response threshold). When pressing the "TEST" button, the red light " " is illuminated, when
releasing the "TEST" button the green light "0" is illuminated. The voltage detector is ready for
testing (operational for approximately 40 to 60 seconds).

5.3.3 Using the voltage detector in the installation:

After performing a functional test (green light is permanently illuminated) and before verifying safe isolation
from supply voltage, the selector switch must be switched to the nominal voltage of the installation to be
tested. For installations with a nominal voltage of 10 kV safe isolation from supply voltage can be optionally
verified in position 1 (3...10 kV) or position 2 (6...20 kV) of the selector switch. For installations with a
nominal voltage of 20 kV safe isolation from supply voltage can be optionally verified in position 2
(6...20 kV) or position 3 (15...30 kV) of the selector switch.
