Don't overdrive the TRX because in this case the signal will be broadened and corrupted!
Don't be confused, as many modern SSB transceivers only display the peak envelope power. If
it is necessary to set the MIC-Gain value to more than half of its maximum, it is recommended
to increase the output level of the DSP TNC. This for example can be done entering %XA 300
or %XR 400 <RETURN>. If no MIC-Gain potentiometer is available, the proper output
amplitude setting has to be evaluated with only using the %XA or %XR command.
On Robust-PR, with proper settings, the SSB peak envelope power will nearly be equal to the
maximum output power of the TRX. In this case the average power will approximately be the
half of the maximum power, so also continuous operation will not cause problems at all.
On constant amplitde modes (e. g. 300 Bd AFSK), to prevent damage from the transceiver at
continuous operation, we recommend to limit the output level to half of the maximum possible
power, that means 50 W if the transceiver is made for 100 W at max.

Assembled cables
Many modern transceivers from KENWOOD, ICOM and YAESU are equipped with a so-
called Data-Connector, which usually is a 6 pin mini-DIN on the rear side of the transceiver.
For this connector we can supply 2 ready assembled cables, one for 9K6 and the other for 1K2
Packet-Radio operation. Refer to the list of accessories in chapter 5 on page 28. To use these
cables, in any case you also need the adapter #8180.

GPS
The TNC uses a 3-pole screw terminator to connect to a GPS reciever. This input is compatible
with 5V-TTL and RS232/V24 signal levels. The GPS output is TTL Level. This pins are
assignes as follows:

Relay
A 12 V (max 200 mA) relay can be connected to the RELAY output. This relay can be used to
automaticly power on and off the radio in Tracker mode.
In the Tracking mode the TNC is most of the time in the waiting state ("sleep mode") and just
counting the time intervals to the next transmission time. It wakes up 10 seconds before the
transmission is scheduled and accesses the RELAY output to switch on the radio. Then it
observes the received signal to determine if the channel is free. If the channel is free, the
position data will be transmitted just in time. If the channel is busy, then the TNC continues to
observe the channel for additional 20 seconds and transmits the position as soon as the channel
is free. If the channel will not be free during this 20 seconds, then this dedicated transmission
