Requirements to operate an SCS Tracker / DSP TNC
1.3
For 9600 / 19200 baud (G3RUH) modulation you need a transceiver with data interface. This is
usually a 6-pin mini-DIN connector on the radio. Fast RX/TX switching time is recommended.
A computer that provides a USB interface. The USB section of the modem is powered by the
computer's USB interface and optically isolated to the rest of the modem hardware.
An appropriate terminal program to operate the virtual serial COM port (driver generated) with
a baud rate of 38400 (default) or 115200 baud. The terminal program shall either be capable to
operate WA8DED Hostmode or KISS mode. For APRS-Tracker operation SCS supplies a
configuration program on the CD attached. This program is also used to update the modem's
firmware.

About this installation guide
This installation manual contains only relevant information about the installation of your SCS
Tracker / DSP TNC modem and popular applications like APRS and Packet-Radio. You can
find complete documentation and detailed descriptions of the command set of the Tracker /
DSP TNC in the "The Firmware" command description document on the SCS CD-ROM
attached. The Packet-Radio kernel (AX.25) is adopted from "TheFirmware" of the German
"NORD><LINK" Group and thus backwards compatible to a TNC2 with WA8DED firmware.
The expression "SCS Tracker / DSP TNC" may be abbreviated with "TNC" in this document.
