NB: It is extremely important to ensure that the product is stable.
It must be installed on a completely inflexible floor.
It is recommended that flooring that is not attached to the
foundation – «floating floors» – be removed beneath the

installation.

3.4 Requirements for floor covering
The SCAN DSA E 1000 has an opening in the base plate (fig.
2 - pos. 1).
Note! The opening must be covered by the accompanying steel
plate (fig. 2 - pos. 12).
Any inflammable floor coverings should be removed from under
the fireplace and floor plate.
3.5 Front plate
If there is inflammable flooring in front of the insert, a plate
made of steel or some other suitably non-inflammable material
must be used.
Contact your local building authorities regarding restrictions
and installation requirements.
3.6 Requirements for air circulation
There must be a flow of air between the insert and the
surround.
This is to ensure that any build-up of heat inside the surround
is not too great. Also that there is adequate heat output into
the room.

4.0 Adaptation and setup

4.1 Painting
All surrounds are delivered unpainted!
Painting can take place the day after installation. Use latex paint.
If you want to create some surface texture, mix some tile cement
into the paint.
4.2 Cracks
In some instances, small cracks may appear at the joints after a
few months' use. These cracks can be easily repaired:
Open up the crack with a tool, e.g. a screwdriver, to create
more room for the grouting cement.
Remove any dust using a vacuum cleaner.
Then inject some acrylic grout, and smooth it off using a wet,
soapy fingertip.
After 48 hours, the joint can be repainted.
