INSTRUCTION MANUAL
WARNING! BEFORE USING THE CLEANING EQUIPMENT READ THE
INSTRUCTION MANUAL CAREFULLY.
1. GENERAL SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
The operator should be properly trained to use the equipment
safely and should be informed about the risks related to cleaning
procedures, especially those concerning use of detergents and
relevant safety measures and emergency procedures.
- Prevent direct contact with the cleaning circuit; the no-load
voltage supplied by the power source may be dangerous under
certain circumstances.
- When the cleaning cables are being connected or checks and
repairs are carried, out the power source should be switched off
and disconnected from the power supply:
- Switch off the power source and disconnect it from the power
supply before carrying out any maintenance operation;
- Perform the electrical installation according to the health and
safety standards and legislation in force;
- The power source should be connected only and exclusively to a
power supply network with the neutral lead connected to earth;
- Make sure that the power supply outlet is correctly connected to
the earth protection;
- Do not use the power source in damp or wet places or in the rain;
- do not use cables with worn insulation or loosened connections.
- Do not carry out cleaning on containers, receptacles or piping that
contain or have contained inflammable liquids or gases.
- Remove all flammable materials (e.g. wood, paper, cloth etc.) from
the working area.
- Do not do any cleaning inside closed containers, in insufficiently
ventilated places or in places where fumes may collect: when the
product comes into contact with metals that need cleaning it
produces hydrogen gas that may create an explosive mixture when
in contact with air.
- Ensure there is adequate electrical insulation between the
cleaning tool, the piece to be cleaned and any (accessible) earthed
metal parts in the vicinity. This can usually be achieved by wearing
gloves and standing on an insulating platform;
- Always protect the eyes with safety glasses or a transparent mask;
- Wear rubber gloves and do not expose the skin to contact with the
cleaning liquid;
- The electromagnetic fields generated by the cleaning process
may interfere with the operation of electrical and electronic
equipment.
People using vital electrical or electronic apparatus (e.g. pace-
makers, respirators etc.) should consult a doctor before stopping
in the vicinity of areas where this equipment is being used.
Users of vital electrical or electronic apparatus should never use
this equipment.
RESIDUAL RISKS
- TIPPING: place the power source on a horizontal surface with
adequate load-bearing capacity; otherwise (e.g. sloping or uneven
floor etc.) it is in danger of tipping over.
- IMPROPER USE: It is dangerous to use the equipment, and the
power source in particular, for any work for which it has not been
designed (e.g. any kind of arc welding, defrosting water pipes);
- Never ever use the handle for hanging up the power source.
(EN)

- The cleaning liquid is a 9.5% solution of phosphoric acid (H
The outside of the container has a label with the safety data sheet.
Read this carefully before starting to handle the container.
EXTRA PRECAUTIONS
- Before starting to handle the cleaning liquid and using the kit,
always read the safety data sheet carefully: this is printed on a
label on the container.
- Do not dispose of the liquid into the sewage network, on the
ground or into public water systems; comply with the regulations
in force in the country where the liquid is used.
2. INTRODUCTION AND GENERAL DESCRIPTION
This equipment is used to clean the welding seam created by TIG or MIG
welding processes on stainless steel. The cleaning procedure completely
removes all effects created by colouring or material oxidation, which are
normal following an arc welding process. They give the welded piece a
shine and enhance the appearance of the welding seam.
STANDARD ACCESSORIES:
- power source complete with power supply cable and earth return
cable;
- cleaning tool;
- spare strips;
- 3-litre container of 9.5% solution phosphoric acid;
- empty dispensing canister.
3. TECHNICAL INFORMATION
DATA PLATE
The most important information regarding use and performance of the
power source is summarised on the rating plate and has the following
meanings:
1
- EUROPEAN standard of reference, for safety and construction of
arc welding machines.
2
-
Symbol: alternating cleaning current
3
-
Symbol: indicates that cleaning operations may be carried out
in environments with heightened risk of electric shock (e.g. close
to large metal masses).
4
- Symbol indicating the main power supply:
1~: single phase alternating voltage.
5
- Casing protection rating.
6
- Technical specifications for main power supply:
- U
: Alternating voltage and frequency of power source (allowed

range ±10%).
- I
: Maximum current absorbed by the line.
1 max
7
- Electrical specifications for the cleaning circuit:
- U
: Maximum no-load voltage (open cleaning circuit).
0
- A/V-A/V : Indicates the range over which the cleaning current
may be adjusted (minimum and maximum) at the corresponding
voltage.
8
- Power source serial number (indispensable identification when
asking for technical assistance, ordering spare parts or discovering
the origin of the product).
9
-
Size of delayed action fuses to be provided to protect the
power line.
10 - Symbols referring to safety standards, the meaning of which is
explained in chapter 1 "General safety instructions for arc welding".
NOTE: The data plate shown here is an example for explaining the
meaning of the symbols and figures; the exact values of the technical
specifications for your power source must be read directly on the rating
plate of the power source itself.
