Use as protection against falls in work cages of elevating platforms
The fall arrester has been tested and approved as protection against falls when the person using the device is
thrown out (catapult or whip effect) in connection with the use of a safety harness according to EN 361:2002 in
work cages of elevating platforms which are equipped with suitable anchor points.
The operating instructions of the elevating platform must be observed!
The following must be observed amongst other things:
1.
As a matter of principle, injuries of the person using the device, such as hitting the work cage or the boom of
the elevating platform, when using the fall arrester cannot be excluded.
2.
The fall arrester may only be used in connection with safety harnesses according to EN 361:2002 with D
rings on the back and chest.
3.
Only anchor points with sufficient load-bearing capacity (
be used. When using higher anchor points at the work cage, the safe functioning of the fall arrester is no
longer ensured.
4.
The fall arrester is connected to the suitable anchor point of the work cage by means of a connector
(max. length of 110 mm) according to EN 362:2004. With its connector element, the retractable lanyard is
connected to the D-ring of the safety harness. Using an extension in connection with the safety harness
D-ring on the chest is not admissible.
5.
The fall arrester is connected at the safety harness D-ring on the back by means of a connector (max. length
of 110 mm) according to EN 362:2004. With its connector, the retractable lanyard is fastened at a suitable
anchor point at the work cage (
and the fall arrester is not admissible.
6.
When choosing the D-ring, the safety harness and the anchor points in the work cage, it must be ensured
that always the shortest connection between the D-ring of the safety harness and the anchor point is
established. Modifications of the system are not admissible.
7.
In order to prevent the person using the device from being thrown out of the work cage while the elevating
platform is travelling, the connection between an anchor point at the front in the area of the control panel
(max. height of the knee rail or lower) and the safety harness D-ring on the chest must be chosen (
Optionally, a rear anchor point and the safety harness D-ring on the back without using an extension can also
be chosen (
).

8.
In order to be able to prevent the person using the device from hitting the ground or hitting other parts in the
environment when being thrown out, the free space below the work cage must be at least 2.0 m (
