Installation instructions

Please read these installation instructions completely before
starting work.
Caution:
Ensure that all electric power is turned off before carrying out any work. The
electrical connections may only be conducted by a suitably qualified person
and must comply with the locally applicable regulations.
If a fireplace with chimney is used, care must be taken that sufficient air can
enter the room being ventilated.
Wandmontage

Loosen the two retaining screws at the bottom of the cover. Do not
remove the screws. Lift both the cover and the protective grille on the
bottom and remove them from the rear panel.

Fix a ventilation pipe with an inner diameter of 100 mm to the wall and
make sure that it is gently sloping towards the outside.

Install the ventilator in the ventilation pipe (pay attention to „top-
arrow") and pull the power cable through the cable feed (see Figure
13 section 1). Screw the unit to the wall. Carry out the electrical wiring
according to the wiring diagram, observe the notices for cable routing
and Figures 13–14.

Install the cover with the protective grille by mounting the protective
grille on top of the ventilator and pressing the underside firmly until it
snaps into the ventilator case. Adjust the cover until it is horizontal and
tighten the screws carefully.

Fix the protective cover to the outside of the ventilation pipes's outlet.
Ceiling installation

Loosen both of the retaining screws at the bottom of the cover. Do not
remove the screws. Lift both the cover and the protective grille on the
bottom and remove them from the rear panel.

Drill/cut out the holes for the ventilator and the power cable in the
ceiling.
9 Remove the backdraught damper, the bracing stays on the unit. Install
the ventilator and pull the power cable through the cable feed (see
Figure 13 section 1). The MS 100 VN requires a permanent and a
switched phase. Screw the unit onto the ceiling. Carry out the electrical
connection according to the wiring diagram, observe the notices for
cable routing and Figures 13–14.
10 Using a clip, secure a pipe, e.g. an aluminium flex pipe or PCV flex
pipe, Ø 100mm to the flange on the ventilator. In order to take full
advantage of the unit's capacity, the length of the pipe should not ex-
ceed 3 metres (select the wiring conduit and outer grille according to
structural conditions Fig. 11,12). Assembly/alignment of the cover with
the protective grille is undertaken at the same time as Point 5.
Alignment of the cover:
If the ventilator is not level, the cover can be finely
adjusted by ±5° by turning.
Notes on cable routing:
Two methods of installation can be employed depending upon the power
cable used.

Method 1: Isolate the power cable as shown in Figure 13a. The

and screw down tightly. Press the rubber cover back into place.

Isolate the power cable as shown in Figure 14a. Break/cut the cable
routing open and feed the cable through it.

Wiring diagram:
Mains voltage and frequency must
match the values on the rating label
of the fan. An all-pole energy isolating
device from the mains with a contact
opening of at least 3 mm was fitted
during installation. Installation in
wet rooms must be carried out in
accordance with DIN/VDE 0100
Part 701. The units are double-insulated
and do not need a ground conductor
(earth).
MS100VN: For post-running
operation, the unit requires a second
permanent phase.
MS100VFN: No switched phase (L1) is necessary if the ventilator is to be
operated automatically, i.e. depending upon the humidity.

Setting the post-running time/relative humidity:
If the recommended factory settings need to be altered then this should be
performed before installation of the device! Make sure that the unit does not
have any power. Remove the bracing ring incl. both of the backdraught
dampers which are kept closed with a spring. Release both screws and the

cover on the flange of the ventilator.

Minute post-running time (MS 100VN): Turn the potentiometer
clockwise direction to shorten the post-running time and anti-clockwise
to extend it.

Humidity trigger and post-running time (MS 100VFN): Turn the potenti-
ometer in a clockwise direction to increase the sensitivity of

the trigger, i.e. it will start operating at a lower relative humidity.
The potentiometer is used to adjust the post-running time.

Install the cover and the bracing ring
Cleaning and maintenance:
Always disconnect the unit from the mains. Do not use solvents when cleaning.
Release the cover with the protective grille from the unit, the ventilator can then
be cleaned with a brush or a damp cloth. Secure the cover with the protective
grille after cleaning.
