6. Software
In the delivery condition, the eCOM Box has a firmware that provides the
following functions:
Boot loader to load an operating system image,
Linux operating system,
Linux-basic driver to control the hardware interfaces,
Linux Command Server (permits start-up and use of the PDU API software).
Use and control of the eCOM Box Command Server application takes place from a connec-
ted PC via the Windows PC software "Toolkit" that must be installed and can be used for
different vehicle interfaces (SDconnect and eCOM Box).
The Toolkit software provides the following functions in connection with the Command
Server on the eCOM Box:
Connection management
Configuration management
Self-test
Update management
For using the eCOM Box as a D-PDU API interface, first install the toolkit software
(unless already installed on the computer) and then the associated D-PDU API software
on the connected PC. Installation places all files required for using the interfaces on the
PC accordingly.
Some of the available diagnosis tools for the eCOM Box already contain the toolkit and
D-PDU API software. If they are already installed, repeated installation of the toolkit and
D-PDU API software may not be required. This can be taken from the respective user
documentation.
If the start menu does not have the corresponding entry, the application can be found in
the directory {Program Files}\SDConnect Toolkit\bin.
After successful completion of the toolkit installation, the D-PDU API can be installed.
The D-PDU API installation wizard asks the user to select components here as well.
