Commissioning and explanation of the
patient probe
The patient probe plug connector has a push-pull lock.
Plug the patient probe plug connector into the green
socket at the rear of the energy control unit.
Then the patient probe is

given to the patient, who
holds it in his/her hand.
During treatment, the
patient probe creates a
contact to the energy
control unit, in order to
monitor the indication
settings.
If the patient lets go for
the patient probe or
does not have it in his/
her hand during treat-
ment, the treatment
unit switches off after 7
seconds. This measure is
for the safety of the pa-
tient and the user.
The plasma ONE is now ready for use.
Warning: Use of this cable or other ac-
cessories may impair the EMC behav-
iour.
In particular, the precautionary meas-
ures concerning EMC and installation
must be observed

mation about the table, please refer to pages

Explanation
The energy control unit supplies the converter with
direct current. This direct current is converted into
high frequencies in the converter. The high frequency
which is generated is passed to the tip through the
glass instrument probe. In the gap between the pa-
tient's skin and the instrument probe an electric field
is created, which ionises the atoms and molecules
and generates the cold plasma.
At the tip of the instru-
ment probe an alternat-
ing electric field is set
up in order to create a
corona discharge (mi-
cro-discharge). The gases
in the earth's atmos-
phere are now converted
into low temperature
plasmas or cold plasma.
The main gases in the
earth's atmosphere are

nitrogen (N

20.946 %

The plasma MEDICAL
SYSTEMS®
technology
converts the earth's atmosphere, which is also re-
ferred to as the homosphere, into a disinfection me-
dium.

Warning information
Only ORIGINAL plasma MEDICAL SYSTEMS® medical
device components must be used.
A mains unit other than the original plasma MEDICAL
SYSTEMS® mains unit is not allowed to be used.
plasma ONE may only be opened by an authorised
dealer or by the manufacturer.
The plasma ONE treatment unit must only be used on
patients by medical personnel.
The medical device plasma ONE is only intended for
proper medical use according to the intended pur-
pose. Do not use plasma ONE for other purposes.
Unless there are counter-indications, the discharge
currents are harmless to the body. Please not the
counter-indications and integrate these into your
treatment concept. Discontinue treatment immedi-
ately if the patient appears to be uncomfortable. Pa-
tients who are hypersensitive to electrical pulses may
experience a tingling feeling in the treated area.
However, according to present research, this is not a
significant adverse side effect.
Do not switch the converter on before you have
plugged the instrument probe into the converter.
Instrument probes must be cleaned and disinfected
before and after use! RKI approved and recognised
disinfectants and methods must be used.
Disinfection of the glass instrument probe, except for
the PSKP syringe, can be carried out by autoclave
sterilisation (autoclave setting 134° C, alternatively
with 121° C or wiping with disinfectant)
.

The function of each instrument probe should be
checked after cleaning and disinfection.
Handle the instrument probe with care in order to
prevent damage. Glass is a sensitive material.
For example, when performing dental treatment,
take care that the probe does not get caught in a per-
iodontal pocket. For narrow or curved canals, such as
root canals, the PSKP syringe should be used with
Capillary Tips or Navi Tips.
Avoid any levering action with the instrument probe
on the patient.
Avoid direct contact of the instrument probe with the
open eye.
The unit switches off immediately in
case of damage to the instrument
probe. Dispose of all broken probe
parts in the proper manner.
With dental treatment, sensitivity may be experi-
enced by the patient in the case of vital teeth.
Avoid direct contact between the active instrument
probe and
vital teeth
if the treatment area has
been
anaesthetised.
First apply the probe to the area to be treated and
then use the Start/Stop button to switch it on.
Do not use the treatment unit under the following
conditions or in the following locations:
If the energy control unit and/or the converter
n
comes into contact with water or liquids.
n
Where the ambient temperature and humidity
exceed the values described below.
Operating conditions:
Ambient tempera-
ture
15 – 45° C
Relative humidity
40 – 85 %
Air pressure
800 – 1014 hPa.
Where the device
n
is subjected to vi-
brations or shocks.
Do not allow the intake of liquids with the PSKP
n
syringe during instillation. This prevents con-
tamination of the inner core of the PSKP sy-
ringe.
Do not use force or great pressure when treating
n
the patient with the glass instrument probe.
This prevents breakage of the glass instrument
probe.
Only
use
original
parts
from
plasma
n
MEDICAL SYSTEMS® GmbH. This prevents injury
to the patient and damage to the treatment
unit.
