11. Range

The transmission range of the radio signals between indoor and outdoor units is up to
120 m under optimum conditions.
However, the range values refer to the so-called "free field range". (Range in
case of direct sight contact between transmitter and receiver without any
interferences).
In practical operation, however, there are walls, ceilings, doors, etc. between the trans-
mitter and the receiver which reduce the range correspondingly.
Due to the different influences on radio transmission, no specific range can be guar-
anteed, unfortunately. Usually, however, operation in a family home is possible without
any problems.
The range may be considerably reduced by:
• Walls, reinforced concrete ceilings, plasterboard walls with metal stand construction
• Laminated/coated insulating glass panes
• Proximity to metal & conductive objects (e.g. heaters, metal doors)
• Proximity to the human body
• Other devices on the same frequency (e.g. radio headphones, radio speakers, WLAN
and Bluetooth devices)
• Proximity to electrical motors/devices, transformers, mains adapters, computers
