14 Cleaning

14 Cleaning
14.1
Standing the lawn mower
upright
(Service position)
► Run the fuel tank empty.
The engine stops.
► Place the lawn mower on a level surface.
► Pull off the spark plug boot.
► Detach the starter grip from the cable guide.
► Set the cutting height to position 1,
► Hold on to the handlebar (1) and unscrew the
rotary handles (2) until they turn freely.
► Move the handlebar (1) backward.
► Hold the lawn mower by the carrying han‐
dle (3) and tilt it backward.
The lawn mower is in the service position.
14.2
Cleaning the Lawn Mower
► Stop the engine.
► Allow the lawn mower to cool down.
► Detach the spark plug socket.
► Clean the lawn mower with a damp cloth.
► Clean the ventilation slots with a paintbrush.
► Upend the lawn mower.
► Clean the area around the blade and the blade
with a stick, a soft brush or a damp cloth.
► Connect the spark plug socket.
NOTICE
■ Using a high-pressure cleaner or a water jet
for cleaning can damage the machine.
► Do not clean the machine with a high-pres‐
sure cleaner or a water jet.

15 Maintenance

15.1

Maintenance Intervals

Maintenance intervals are dependent on the
ambient conditions and the working conditions.
STIHL recommends the following maintenance
intervals:
Engine

► Maintain the engine as described in the engine
instruction manual.
Lawn mower
► Have the lawn mower inspected annually by a
STIHL specialist dealer.

► Switch off the engine and disconnect the spark

► Stand the lawn mower upright.
► Block the blade (1) with a piece of wood (2).
► Unscrew and remove the blade mounting
screw (3).
► Remove the cutting blade (1).
► Discard the blade mounting screw (3).
To attach the blade, use a new blade mount‐
ing screw.
15.2.2
► Switch off the engine and disconnect the spark
plug boot.
► Stand the lawn mower upright.
► Apply Loctite 243 threadlocking on the thread
of the new blade mounting screw (1).
► Position the blade (2) so that the raised areas
on the contact surface engage in the notches
on the blade (2).
► Screw in the blade mounting screw (1).
► Block the blade (2) with a piece of wood (3).
► Tighten the blade mounting screw (1) to a tor‐
que of 60 Nm.
