C. THE HELMET

5. INNER SHELL

The inner shell of the helmet is made up of multiple parts to provide optimal
shock absorption. A complex foam structuring in multiple zones of the main
body maximizes the absorption and distribution of force and thus a high level
of protection.

6. AERODYNAMICS

The C3 is designed for the touring and sports touring riding positions and
does not move about in the airflow. Even at higher speeds the C3 generates
almost no lift.
Caution:
On motorcycles with fairing, strong air turbulence may be created at
the edges of the slipstream created by the fairing. This can have a
significant impact on the aerodynamic characteristics of a helmet.
7. AEROACOUSTICS
Particular emphasis has been placed on the aeroacoustic characteristics of
the C3. A number of measures have been taken during development in the
SCHUBERTH wind tunnel, together with the selection of special materials, to
provide freedom from draughts and a quiet ride.** Wind noise is created by
air turbulence around the helmet and is perceived inside the helmet as noise
(known as 'pseudo-noise'). Only the person wearing the helmet can hear this
noise. At speeds of 100 km/h and above, with most motorcycles and most
helmets, this wind noise drowns out the sound of the engine.
** Aeroacoustic performance may vary depending on the motorcycle type, fairing and the
rider's position and body size.
Warning:
The high level of aeroacoustic optimization of this helmet and the
consequently low wind noise levels make it easy for the rider to
underestimate the speed of travel. Never rely on the sound to guess
your speed – always check the speedometer for an accurate indication.

Caution:
On motorcycles with fairing, strong air turbulence is created at the
edges of the slipstream. This can significantly reduce the aeroacoustic
performance of the helmet. The fairing should be adjusted such that
the turbulence layer does not impact directly on the underside of the
helmet.
Aeroacoustically non-critical area
Tip:
The fit of the underside of the helmet is extremely important for
minimizing noise. You should ensure that the opening is securely closed.
We recommend that riders with a smaller collar size wear a scarf or
similar.
ANTI-NOISE PAD
(not included in delivery; available separately as an accessory)
The anti-noise pad can help reduce noise levels in the helmet.
Attach the pad to the inside of the wind
deflector using the Velcro strips.
