9. Computer Configuration (WLAN/LAN)

• Router configuration is performed via the WLAN card or LAN interface of the computer,
depending on operating mode.
In the "3G Wireless Router Mode", "Wireless Router Mode (Gateway)" and "Wireless AP
Mode" operating modes, configuration is performed via the computer's WLAN-card.
In the operating mode "Wireless Client Mode (Station)", configuration is performed via the
computer's LAN interface.
• In the delivery state, the router's DHCP server is inactive. The operating system must be set
up so that the network or WLAN card is automatically assigned an IP address at start-up. This
should be pre-set by default for Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7.
If your computer/operating system assigns a fixed IP address to the network or WLAN card,
you need to change this in the windows control panel to enable communication with the
router.
It is also important that there is only one DHCP server in the complete network. If you operate
this router and a network hard disc, only one DHCP-server must be active (we recommend
using the router's DHCP server).
The router assigns the IP addresses in the area of 192.168.0.x (x=2....254; the range of the
IP addresses to be used by the router can be set, e.g. x=20....50; observe the respective
settings menu). The address 192.168.0.1 is reserved for the router.
• In case of configuration via the LAN interface, no other settings are required. Continue with
chapter 10.
• For configuration via WLAN, you first need to connect the computer to the router's WLAN.
At delivery or after reset, the router's WLAN is automatically activated. This is an unsecured
WLAN, so that no password needs to be entered. The name (SSID) is "Wireless3G-N1".
If your computer is set to configure WLAN via the Windows tool, click the WLAN icon in the
task bar with the right mouse button and select "Display wireless networks".
Connect your computer to the WLAN "Wireless3G-N1" and continue with chapter 10 of the
operating instructions.
