• This chain saw is not intended for tree
felling. Use of the chain saw for opera-
tions different than intended could res-
ult in serious injury to the operator or
bystanders.
• Follow all instructions when clearing
jammed material, storing or servicing
the chain saw. Make sure the switch
is off and the battery pack is removed.
Unexpected actuation of the chain saw
while clearing jammed material or servi-

Additional safety instructions for
chainsaws for tree care
WARNING! This tool is a very dangerous
tool if you are not careful or use the tool im-
properly. This tool can cause serious injury
to the operator or other persons. It is there-
fore of the utmost importance that these op-
erating instructions are carefully read and
understood.
General Information
• The information in these operating in-
structions is in no way a substitute
for professional expertise and experi-
ence. If you are not sure how to operate
the tool, contact a person with specialist
knowledge and experience.
• Only use a chainsaw for tree care if
you have the necessary training. In par-
ticular, do not work in trees without train-
ing. The risk of serious injury is very high.
• Do not use a chainsaw for tree care for
work that you can also do with a chain-
saw with a rear handle. In the event of
a kickback, you can control a chainsaw
with a rear handle better than a chainsaw
for pruning.
Preparation
• There is an increased risk of loss of
control with this tool. Persons carry-
ing out tree care work with this tool must
have completed appropriate training in
pruning and working techniques before-
hand. The operator must be equipped
with safety equipment such as a lifting
platform, ropes and safety harnesses.
Operation
• Prolonged use of the tool can lead
to blood circulation disorders in the
hands caused by vibration (Raynaud's
syndrome).
If you notice any unusual impairment,
stop work immediately and consult a doc-
tor.
• Always apply the chain brake before
starting the engine and release the
throttle lock immediately after starting
the engine. Make sure that the engine
speed has returned to idle before the
chain brake is released.
• Only use the throttle lock when starting
the engine.
WARNING! Insert a throttle lock be-
fore using the tool.
Causes and Operator Prevention
of Kickback
• Kickback may occur when the nose or
tip of the guide bar touches an object, or
when the wood closes in and pinches the
saw chain in the cut (Fig. b).
• Tip contact in some cases may cause
a sudden reverse reaction, kicking the
guide bar up and back towards the oper-
ator (Fig. a).
• Pinching the saw chain along the top of
the guide bar may push the guide bar
rapidly back towards the operator.
• Either of these reactions may cause you
to lose control of the saw which could
result in serious personal injury. Do not
rely exclusively upon the safety devices
built into your saw. As a chain saw user,
you should take several steps to keep
your cutting jobs free from accident or in-
jury.
Kickback is the result of chain saw misuse
and/or incorrect operating procedures or
conditions and can be avoided by taking
proper precautions as given below:
• Maintain a firm grip, with thumbs
and fingers encircling the chain saw
handles, with both hands on the saw
and position your body and arm to al-
low you to resist kickback forces. Kick-
back forces can be controlled by the op-
