Precautions for proper use

CAUTION !
It is strictly forbidden to :
-
Open the RVA-X ATEX rotary valve while the installation is running,
-
Use the RVA-X ATEX rotary valve for wet material,
-
Use the RVA-X ATEX rotary valve for sticky material,
-
Use the RVA-X ATEX rotary valve for gas, steams or hybrid mixing, unstable chemical substances, Explosive
substances, or Pyrotechnic substances,
-
Use the RVA-X ATEX rotary valve for long fibrous or flexible material which could wrap around the rotor.
During functioning, the user has to ensure himself that there is no material stacking or material build-up inside the
RVA-X ATEX rotary valve in order to ensure the proper discharge of the material.
During maintenance keep the extraction system disconnected and all the electrical equipment turned off, and make
sure that it is impossible to inadvertently set it back in operation before everything is connected and assembled.
In the event of an explosion, do not unblock or manipulate the RVA-X ATEX rotary valve until the explosion is
completely extinguished. Check if the RVA-X ATEX rotary valve and its parts are working properly. A complete
overhaul is required and damaged components need to be replaced before starting up again.
CAUTION !
Be aware of hot particles remaining inside the RVA-X ATEX rotary valve, even if the explosion is over. While opening
the RVA-X ATEX rotary valve, parts can fall out from inside, damaging the operator or goods.
Every time there is a potentially explosive atmosphere danger, special safety steps must be taken, such as :
Tools or operations which can produce sparks, which can cause gas ignition, or flammable vapors, are not
allowed to be used in any procedure that takes place in any area classified as explosion risk,
Avoid dust removal by blowing while cleaning,
Open flames or sparks near the explosion risk area is strictly forbidden,
End user shall perform an ignition hazard assessment of the complete installation considering possibility of
hot or glowing particles entering RVA-X ATEX rotary valve. If glowing or hot particles are expected within
product flow, measures shall be taken to prevent entry of glowing or hot particles into the rotary valve,
Electric motor and gearbox shall be suitable for the intended zone, ambient temperature range, maximum
allowed surface temperature and dust group. If the permissible ambient temperature or ATEX rating of the
motor or gearbox deviates from the RVA-X ATEX rotary valve, the worst-case value is valid.
4.5
Gearbox & Motor
For information on the installation of the gearbox and electric motors, see relevant manuals from the original
manufacturers (supplied separately).
Electrical parts shall be maintained according to manufacturer's instructions and inspected periodically according to
local and national legislation (e.g. EN 60079-17).
If there is any doubt whether an RVA-X ATEX rotary valve or any important parts hereof is intact until next overhaul,
replacement must always be carried out.

5. Maintenance

According to EN16447 and EN15089 regulations, specific periodic inspections must be performed to ensure that the
RVA-X ATEX rotary valve maintains its efficient isolation function against explosion propagations at all times.
Maintenance must always be carried out according to the instructions in the manual.
Installation, operation, maintenance, and repair in areas with risk of explosions may only be carried out by qualified
personnel.
Ensure that no tools or foreign objects remain in the machine during assembly or maintenance.
