liquids or gases. Position the devices so that they are out of
the reach of children.
Protection against an electrical shock
Only operate devices whose casings and cables are undam-
aged. Ensure the cables are installed safely. Do not pull on the
cables.
Use
Do not use electrical devices for purposes other than those
stated by the manufacturer.
Repairs
Do not repair or modify the device. Please contact your dealer
or the Truma Service (see service manual or www.truma.com).
Accessories
Only use accessories and additional devices that are supplied
or recommended by the manufacturer.

Intended use

The voltage booster VB 10 controls the charging of 12 V lead
accumulators that have 6 individual cells (e.g. car battery) and
a capacity of at least 50 Ah. It also switches the 12 V voltage
supply to the refrigerator. The device is designed for installa-
tion in caravans.

Improper use

This device may not be used to charge 6 V lead ac-
cumulators, non-chargeable batteries and / or nickel-
cadmium batteries! These types of batteries may explode if
charged with this device.

Description

When the vehicle and trailer are moving, the supply battery
(Battery II) in the caravan is charged via the starter battery
(Battery I) in conjunction with the dynamo of the traction
vehicle and, at the same time, the refrigerator is supplied with
power. To achieve the optimum charging status for the supply
battery, a voltage of at least 14.2 V is required. This voltage is
not available in the caravan due to line losses.
The voltage booster VB 10 controls the output voltage with
an input voltage of between 10 V – 15 V so that the supply
battery is supplied with 14.2 V. It compensates any voltage
fluctuations and line losses and automatically switches the
12 V power supply to the refrigerator.
When in driving mode, the device registers whether or not
there is any voltage and if the dynamo is working via the
cable from the switched contact no. 10 on the coupling plug.
If there is voltage, the device sets the output voltage to the
supply battery to 14.2 V. At the same time, the voltage from
contact no. 9 on the coupling plug of the refrigerator output,
which is supplied by the traction vehicle, is released.
If after the motor has been switched off there is no more volt-
age on contact no. 10, the device stops working and the re-
frigerator is switched off. This prevents the starter battery from
being discharged by the supply battery and the refrigerator.
The starting capability of the starter battery is not affected.
If the coupling plug is disconnected from the traction vehicle,
the device's design ensures that the contacts of the plug can-
not carry any voltage from the caravan battery (Battery II).
