5.2 Before the first use
- Read the instructions and safety guidelines carefully before using the device.
- Remove all packing material and make sure that all parts as in chapter 7 Scope of delivery are present and in
proper condition.
- Wipe the inside and the outside of the device with a soft cloth, slightly moistened if necessary, and dry it off
thoroughly.
- Clean the dehydration trays, the mesh tray and the fruit leather tray with warm water and a mild detergent.
Dry all parts thoroughly and place them in the appliance.
- Heat the empty device at 75 °C for approx. 30 minutes; the slight odor that will probably be produced is
completely harmless. Ensure good ventilation of the room during this period!
5.3 Use
- Place the appliance on a suitable surface (not on a metal surface; not on fabrics etc.).
- Prepare the pieces of food. Distribute them evenly on the required amount of trays, taking care that they do
not touch each other. To dry very small pieces of food, use the mesh tray. To prepare fruit leather use the fruit
leather tray. Place the mesh tray and the fruit leather tray each on a dehydration tray.
- Put the trays in the food dehydrator and close the door.
- Insert the power plug into a suitable socket. An acoustic signal sounds, all of the select buttons light up and
the display shows 88:88. After 5 seconds, the select buttons go off, the button TIME/TEMP flashes and the
display shows 00:00 hours.
- Press the button TIME/TEMP. The display shows the preset temperature and time of 70 °C and 10:00 hours.
If needed you can adjust these settings.
- Press the button TIME/TEMP. As long as the temperature indicator flashes in the display, you can adjust the
desired temperature by pressing the buttons +/– in steps of 5 °C from 35 °C to a maximum of 75 °C.
- Press the button TIME/TEMP again, the display for the time flashes. Pressing the buttons +/– you can select
from 30 minutes to a maximum of 24 hours in steps of 30 minutes.
- By pressing the START/STOP button, the device starts operating. During operation, the display switches from
time to temperature every 10 seconds.
- To change the set time or temperature while the appliance is operating, press the button TIME/TEMP and
then the + or – button.
- To interrupt or prematurely stop the drying process, press the START/STOP button.
- After the set time has elapsed, an acoustic signal sounds, the drying process is stopped automatically and
the display shows END. The fan keeps running for short time.
- Open the door and remove the trays.
- After use, unplug the power cord from the socket to turn off the unit completely and allow it to cool.
Additional function for dehydration at room temperature
The food dehydrator PROFESSIONAL has an additional function for drying at room temperature. This function is
particularly suitable for gentle, energy-efficient drying with optimum air circulation on warm days and especially
for nuts whose oils would become rancid when exposed to high temperatures. In this setting, the fan runs without
the unit heating up.
Press the button TIME/TEMP to display the temperature. Then press the – button until FAN appears in the
display and press the START/STOP button to start the drying process.
