Display-elements
All the display elements of the T 1210 R tuner are
grouped together in one clearly arranged display area.
Only the essential data is shown at any one time, in order
to keep the display as simple as possible to understand
and operate. If you have tuned in a station broadcasting
RDS information, then the screen shows the station's
name in plain text.
Extra information which is only needed occasionally, e. g.
an accurate display of the signal field strength, can be
called up and displayed simply by pressing a button.

a. STEREO
This symbol glows if the selected transmitter is broad-
casting a STEREO signal.
The STEREO message disappears if the tuner is picking
up a MONO programme, or if the T 1210 R has been
switched manually to MONO. See
b. WIDE
The WIDE symbol signals that the tuner is set to receive
the selected station using the wide bandwidth mode.
This mode provides maximum possible reproduction
quality when reception conditions are good, and when
there is no adjacent transmitter which could cause inter-
ference.
If you switch to 'NARROW' bandwidth manually, the
WIDE symbol is turned off.
c. Attenuator
This symbol indicates that the input attenuator is
switched on. See

d. Signal field strength
These bars give an approximate indication of the field
strength of the signal being received, and thus the recep-
tion quality to be expected from the station you have
selected. The significance of the LEDs is as follows:
Bars glowing
None
2 Bars
hissfree MONO reception,
4 Bars
hissfree STEREO reception
Note:
This coarse classification is quite adequate to allow you
to judge whether a station is worth tuning in when you
have set up a station search. If you need a more precise
indication of field strength - perhaps you want to position
a rotary antenna accurately - then the screen can provide
an accurate numerical value on the alpha-numeric
display (see
button).
e. Alpha-numeric display field
This part of the screen shows the frequency of the selec-
ted station while you are tuning. When the tuner picks up
a station whose signal is above the seek threshold, a
tuning indicator (TUNING) appears on the left, adjacent
to the reception frequency.
The station name of an RDS transmitter appears in plain
text shortly after it has been tuned in accurately.
If the station is not tuned in accurately, or if the station
does not transmit an RDS code, the screen continues to
display the frequency and the tuning indicator.
During certain processes, such as storing station presets,
the alpha-numeric display shows additional information.
