7. Initial start-up
DANGER – electric shock, damage, risk of injury
Only a trade professional may perform the initial start-up and they must comply
with safety regulations in doing so.
• Check that the disposer works correctly. In doing so, observe Section 8 in these
instructions: Description and operation of disposer.
• No water must be left to stagnate in the grinding chamber. Ensure water drains out
correctly.
• Handing over the system:
- Explain how the disposer works to the user. Familiarise the user with its use.
- Draw the user's attention to possible hazards, especially risk of injury while
operating or cleaning the disposer.
- Hand over these installation instructions.
• Check the hose, pipe and sink connections for leaks.
OPERATION
8. Description and operation of disposer
The food waste disposer (hereinafter referred to as "the disposer") shreds organic kitchen
waste such as preparation waste or food leftovers and disposes of this waste in the
sewage system via the drain.
The disposer must not be used for other purposes, such as washing hair, clothes or
pets. Any other or additional use is considered improper. Correct usage also includes
observing these instructions. Negligent use, improper handling, opening the disposer up
and non-compliance with the specifi cations in the operating instructions will lead to the
warranty becoming void.
1. Remove the strainer (Max or Medium models) or the plug (Lite model) from the sink
drain.
2. Run cold water (steady fl ow).
3. Switch the disposer on by pressing the pneumatic switch/air switch.
4. Feed small portioned amounts of your food waste down the drain while the disposer is
operating and water is running.
WARNING – injury
You may need to press larger food leftovers into the grinding chamber through the
rubber collar.
Do not reach into the disposer's grinding chamber with your fi ngers. Do not insert
long objects such as cooking spoons into the grinding chamber.
5. Wait until the disposer has shredded all food waste. The grinding process is complete
when the grinding sound stops and you now only hear the sound of the motor and the
water flowing.
6. Leave the disposer and water running for a few seconds more to rinse everything out.
7. Now press the pneumatic switch/air switch again to switch off the disposer and turn
the water off.
8. Insert the strainer or plug back into the outlet. This way you will stop objects
accidentally falling into the disposer.
