Loudspeakers
To achieve the best results we recommend
that you choose GRUNDIG
HiFi Loud-
speaker Enclosures as these are of the
highest quality and capable of handling
the full output power of the unit.
The loudspeaker impedance must be 4Q
to obtain full power output and the
impedance must never be allowed to fall
below 3.2Q. It is permissible, however,
to use loudspeakers with an impedance of
up to 16 Q provided that the loss of output
power experienced is tolerable.
On the rear of the set, connecting sockets
for two separate stereo loudspeaker
groups are provided (pos. @, €}). These
speaker groups can be operated
simultaneously in two separate rooms
(black sockets = stereo group I, green
sockets = stereo group Il).
Loudspeaker group | or II, used for stereo
reproduction, will deliver 2 x 50 W nominal
power (2x 70 W music power). For two
room stereo (groups 1 + 2), the power
output will be 4x 15 W nominal
(4x 60 W
music power).
Always make sure that the right-hand
loudspeaker unit is connected to the RH
socket and vice versa.
Note: Loudspeaker extension cables are
available
in 5 metres
length
(cable 375a)
and 10 metres length (cable 376a).
Headphones
For those ardent music lovers, who do not
wish to disturb others and who, themselves,
do not wish to be disturbed, connecting
sockets
@ for two pairs of stereo
headphones are provided (DIN 45 327).
We recommend headphones with an
impedance between 5 and 2000 2, in
particular GRUNDIG
HiFi Headphones 216
or 223.
Switching On and Off
The receiver is switched on and off by
means of the toggle switch @ situated on
the far left. Top position = on; bottom
position = off. When switching on, key
U 1 always will light up at first.
Loudspeaker Selection Switches
The toggle switches @ allow to switch on
and off the different loudspeaker groups.
Top position = on; bottom position = off.

Programme Keys
By lightly pressing the keys @,
the following functions can be selected:
U
=
FM reception (main scale)
M
=
Medium wave reception
TA
=
Replay of records
TB1=
Replay from a tape/cassette
recorder
j
TB2 =Replay from a second tape/
cassette recorder
When selecting FM or MW reception, this
is additionally indicated by a light emitting
diode in the scale (@, @, respectively).
Station Tuning on Main Scale
Tune in the desired station with the
right-hand control @. Tune for maximum
deflection on the tuning meter @. This
meter is also used as field strength meter
on FM (see corresponding paragraph).
Volume Setting
Adjust the volume with the knob @.
Stereo Radio Reception
Your Receiver is equipped for the
reception of FM stereo transmitters using
the FM-multiplex system (MPX). The
integrated circuit stereo "PLL" decoder
is fitted with an automatic switch so
that the receiver is automatically switched
to stereo when a stereo transmission is
received. This automatic switch is
effective when the MPX switch @ is set
to its top position. In this case the red
stereo indicator @ in the scale will light
up as soon as a stereo programme is
received.
Automatic Frequency Control on FM (AFC)
The automatic frequency control is in
operation when the toggle switch @ is in
its top position. It locks in a station once
it is tuned in. When tuning in a different
FM station switch off the AFC by setting
the AFC switch ® to its bottom position.
Do not use the automatic frequency control
to receive a weak station close to a much
stronger one otherwise the receiver will
lock onto the stronger station of the two
with the automatic frequency control in
operation.
FM Programme Keys
The keys @ can be programmed to
store 7 different FM stations. The stored
stations can be recalled instantly. by
lightly pressing the required key.
The tuning controls are to be found behind
the flap above the keys. To facilitate station
tuning, use the bushing inside the flap. To
tune in the individual stations proceed as
follows:
@ Switch off the AFC by setting switch @
to its bottom position.
@ Slightly press the required key.
@
Fit bushing onto corresponding tuning
control (U1...U7) and tune in
desired station. When tuning refer to
the frequency meter @ which will
display the frequency of the station
being received. Final tuning should be
made by referring to the tuning
meter @. Always tune for maximum
deflection on the meter. The
"Tunoscope"
@ is an additional great
tuning aid on FM — see corresponding
paragraph.
When all the desired stations have been
stored the AFC should be switched on
again. It will ensure correct tuning when
a station is recalled.
Aerial Rotator
The Receiver is fitted with a rear mounted
socket @ for connection to the
"programmatic-rotor" aerial rotator
manufactured by Stolle & Co.
The position of the aerial rotator can be
programmed when the VHF stations are
being tuned.
When a station is recalled by pressing
one of the FM keys the VHF dipole will
automatically be steered towards the
transmitter.
FM "Tunoscope"
The three light emitting diodes ® permit
easy and accurate tuning of FM stations.
For this first switch off the AFC. Now
tune in the desired
FM stations so that only
the middle green LED lights up. The
left or right red LED
will light up if the
station is not accurately tuned in. If both
red LEDs are lighting, only a very weak
station or no signal at all is received.
Switch on the AFC again after having
tuned in the station.
