Detecting metals
- Press the button (4) and turn the sensitivity controller (3) to maximum sensitivity (clockwise
to stop) => the LED (2) will start to flash and the buzzer will be audible.
- Keep button (4) pressed and turn the sensitivity controller (3) counter clockwise until the LED
and buzzer go off. Now the maximum possible sensitivity of the device has been set.
Please make sure you are not in the vicinity of metal parts during the
adjustment as this could affect the result.
- Keep the button (4) pressed and slowly move the metal sensor (1) from various directions
across the surface / object to be checked.
- The MS-258 II indicates the presence of metals by flashing LED (2) and slow beeping of the
buzzer.
- For exact localisation of the metal object, keep the button (4) pressed and slowly turn the
sensitivity controller (3) anti clockwise, and scan the surface again until the position is
determined precisely. In this way you can determine the precise position of power cables and
metal water pipes in order to prevent unnecessary damage whilst drilling holes, for example.
Please keep in mind that cables, nails et cetera cannot be located in walls which
have been "shielded" with metal foil (frequently on glass fibre insulation mats).
Moreover, water pipes made of plastic cannot be detected either.
The depth, in which the device is able to detect metals, depends on the type of
metal as well as of the size of the object. Larger objects can be detected in larger
depths.

Continuity check

Be sure to remove the parts from AC Mains or high voltage! While checking, press
the switch (4) and put the Test-PIN (7) in contact with one side of the object, and be
sure that the free hand touches the other side ot the object too.
Continuity indicating by LED (2) blinks and buzzer sounds.
