Renaissancespeakershave been designedto deliver opti-
mum performance with their grilles in place. Under no circum-
stancesshould the grilles be removed prior to listening because
this will createsonic anomalies.Should you wish to play your
speakers without their grilles, it will be necessary to order front
grilles (without grille cloth). Consult your Infinity dealer for

If your preferenceis for lots of "punch" and a soundstage
that is forward, adjust the rear spikesto bring the speakersinto
a perpendicular position. If your preference is for a less forward
sound (a bit laid back and softer), tilt the speakersback by
adjusting the rear spikes. Once again, make sure the angle of
both speakers is exactly the same.
To adjustthe rear spikeup or down, first loosenthe large
black knob to permit turning the spike in its socket. Next,
grasping the spike from below the diecast back plate (watch
your fingers), turn the spike by hand either clockwise to move it
downward, o r counterclockwise t o moveit upward.If thespike
is too difficult to turn by hand, remove the black knob and turn
the spike with the suppliedAllen wrench.Seefigure 10.

Plastic caps have been supplied to cover the tips of the
spikes. This can prove useful, especially when installing your
speakers on anexpensivefloor. The siliconeadhesive(also sup-
plied) will fasten the plastic caps to the spikes.Apply a small
amountof silicone into eachplastic tip, then mount the plastic
tips onto the three spikes. Allow at least 20 minutes for the sili-
cone
to set.
Do not tilt the speakersforward. This is a dangerous prac-
tice becausethey may tip over and causeinjury. Be sure the
speakers are firmly planted and do not rock. Press down on the
top of each speaker so the spikes push through the rug and
padding and touch the floor. If the spikes do not touch the floor,
the result may be less than articulate bass.
Pleaseexercise caution when relocating the speakersor
adjustingthe spikes.Again, the three spikeson the baseof each
speakerare sharp and can cause injury if caution is not exer-
cised.
HIGH
ENERGY
EMITTM
PROTECTION
CIRCUIT
Renaissance models include electronic protection in the
crossover network to protect the High Energy EMITTM from
excessive power and high frequency distortion which can be
created when an amplifier goes into clipping. If the tweeter
turnsoff while playing music, turn off your entire audiosystem
to allow the tweeter's protection electronics to cool off. The
electronicprotection circuit will resetitself automatically once
it reaches normal operating temperature.
If thetweeterprotectioncircuit continuously turnsoff, your
amplifier
may not have adequate power to drive your
Renaissancespeakersand the amplifier could be going into
severeclipping. This form of overloadgenerates high frequency
distortion which can be damaging if the energy is allowed to
reach the tweeter.
Consult your dealer,or contactInfinity if you areexperienc-
ing this type of difficulty.
