Assembly
m Caution! Risk of injury!
• Do not connect the device to the power supply until
assembly is complete. Failure to do so may result in
accidental starting and possibly serious injury.
• Ensure that you have sufficient space in which to
work, and that you do not endanger other people.
• All covers and protective devices must be assem-
bled properly before commissioning.
• Please make sure that your grinding machine stands
upright and stable on a solid surface with sufficient
lighting.
• Disconnect the mains plug before changing the set-
ting on the device.
Fitting the end caps and grinding dust cover (Figs.
B, C)
Firmly screw the two end caps (9) and (10) onto the
housing and fasten the grinding dust cover (13) into the
rear opening.
8. Operation (Fig. D-G)
A properly milled drill bit is characterised by:
• A cutting edge with two sharp sides of equal size.
• Two trailing edges that are slightly lower than the
front edges of the cutting edge.
If a drill bit does not look like this, it must be milled.
Step 1 – Presetting
• Take the clamping chuck (4) and insert it in the set-
ting guide (3). (Fig. D)
• Open the clamping chuck (4) by turning to left until
the drill bit to be milled can be inserted in the clamp-
ing chuck (4).
• Open the positioning jaws by pressing the clamping
button (2). The drill bit can now be pushed up to the
end stop between the positioning claws. (Fig. D)
• Slowly release the clamping button (2) so the closing
positioning jaws grip the drill bit above the clamping
slot and thus position it. (Fig. E)
• Now close the clamping chuck (4) by turning to the
right and pull it out of the setting guide (3).
• Now retighten the clamping chuck (4) a little
Step 2 – Grinding
• Connect the drill bit sharpener to the mains supply.
• Switch on the drill bit sharpener at the On/Off switch
(12) (Fig. A).
• Insert the clamping chuck (4) with the drill bit
(clamped in step 1) into the milling guide (7). (Fig. F)
• Now turn the clamping chuck (4) under slight pres-
sure to the respective end stop to the right and left
until the grinding noise markedly decreases.
• Pull the clamping chuck (4) out of the milling guide
(7), rotate by 180° and repeat the grinding process.
• Switch off the drill bit sharpener at the On/Off switch
(12). Let the grindstone come to a halt before taking
off the clamping chuck (4).
• Make sure that the drill bit is correctly ground and
corresponds to the two or three points previously
mentioned for a sharp drill bit.
Step 3 – Pointing
• Insert the clamping chuck (4) with the drill bit
(clamped in step 1) into the clearance angle guide
(1). (Fig. G)
• Now turn the clamping chuck (4) under slight pres-
sure to the respective end stop to the right and left
until the grinding noise markedly decreases.
• Pull the clamping chuck (4) out of the clearance an-
gle guide (1), rotate by 180° and repeat the thinning
process.
• Switch off the drill bit sharpener at the On/Off switch
(12). Let the grindstone come to a halt before taking
off the clamping chuck.
• Make sure the drill bit is correctly pointed; this is
characterised by a sharp point in the middle of the
drill bit.
9.
Transport
1.
Turn off the power tool before any transport and
disconnect it from the power supply.
2.
Protect the power tool from knocks, bumps and
strong vibrations, such as during transport in ve-
hicles.
3.
It is essential that the device is secured against
falling or tipping over during transport.
4.
Never use the safety devices for handling or trans-
porting purposes.
5.
The machine may only be lifted and transported
by its frame.
